Peter Cullen, the legendary voice of Optimus Prime, has died at the age of 85.

Cullen first gave his unforgettable voice to Optimus Prime in the original 1984 Transformers animated series, becoming the voice generations of fans grew up with. He later returned to the role for the live-action Transformers movies, including the first film in 2007 and Rise of the Beasts in 2023.

But Optimus Prime wasn’t his only legendary role. Cullen was also the beloved voice of Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh, as well as KARR in Knight Rider and other memorable characters throughout his six-decade career.

He passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by his family. His family asked fans to remember his legacy through compassion, integrity and loyalty.

For millions of people, that deep voice will always be Optimus Prime.
