Hayden Panettiere was found dead in a residence in Greenville, South Carolina. While the cause of death is not yet officially released, new piece of evidence found in the residence could confirm what happened.
The sudden death of Hayden Panettiere has taken another heartbreaking turn after 911 dispatch audio from the emergency call was obtained by Page Six.
The Heroes actress was found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, on Sunday afternoon. She was just 36 years old. Emergency crews were called at around 1:50 p.m. following a report of an “unidentified female” in cardiac arrest.
According to the dispatch audio, CPR was already underway within minutes of the call. Responders reportedly continued their desperate efforts to save Panettiere, performing chest compressions and providing advanced cardiac life support.

Despite the efforts of emergency crews, Panettiere was pronounced dead at the scene. But while the dispatch audio has led to reports that an overdose may have been involved, officials have not confirmed this as the cause of her death.
Neighbors share horror scene at residence where Hayden Panettiere was found dead
In a statement on August 17, coroner Mike Ellis said, “At autopsy, no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death. The cause and manner of death remain pending further investigation and the completion of additional studies. This investigation remains active and ongoing. No further details are available for release at this time.”
After the horrific incident, neighbors of the apartment complex Hayden Panetierre was found in have spoken out about what they saw.
Micah Lee, a tenant at Judson Mill Lofts complex, told WYFF, “The halls are pretty hollow, so noise echoes throughout. And I had just heard about someone collapsing. And then afterwards there was talk about cardiac arrest. I can’t confirm any of that. That’s just what I’ve heard.”
Another neighbor, who remained anonymous, told Page Six that they weren’t aware that Hayden Panettiere was living there.
“It’s still kind of jarring to hear that someone of her stature was here and then that tragically happened to her,” the neighbor said, adding that cops were at the scene from around noon to 8 p.m.
The coroner vehicle showed up and, of course, I knew then that there was a death,” the neighbor added. “Then woke up this morning to hear that it was Hayden, which is just still shocking.”
New evidence found possibly confirm Hayden Panettiere’s death
Now, evidence found in the apartment could confirm reports of the cause of death.
According to TMZ, the device used to dispense Narcan, a medicine which typically is used to reverse an opioid overdose quickly, was found at the scene of Hayden’s death.
Sources told the news outlet that it was found on a mattress inside the apartment where she died. As of now, however, it’s unknown whether Panettiere had received the dose of Narcan or if another person in the apartment did.
Still, 911 dispatch audio stated that she had died of an “overdose”
Hayden Panettiere was very outspoken about her struggles with alcohol and opioid addiction. In an interview with People Magazine in 2022, she said that her addiction spiraled “out of control” to the point where she “couldn’t live without” substances.
Also, she recalled how at 15, she had been offered “happy pills” to keep a good mood while walking red carpets.
“They were to make me peppy during interviews,” she told People. “I had no idea that this was not an appropriate thing, or what door that would open for me when it came to my addiction.”
As Hayden’s career really took off, she kept drinking heavily. Moreover, she also revealed she, on occasion, took opioids.
“My saving grace is that I couldn’t be messy while on set and working,” Panettiere said. “But things kept getting out of control [off set]. And as I got older, the drugs and alcohol became something I almost couldn’t live without.”
Rest in peace, Hayden Panettiere
