Shocking footage shows Joe Rogan finding out about Charlie Kirk’s murder

Footage has emerged from the moment US comedian Joe Rogan found out about the murder of Charlie Kirk while recording an episode of his immensely popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience.

Rogan was joined in his Texas studio by legendary actor Charlie Sheen when news broke of Kirk’s death at the hands of a shooter while the political activist spoke at an event at Utah Valley University.

Rogan and Sheen were nearing the end of the podcast, the 2379th episode of Rogan’s show, Rogan’s attention was brought to the then-breaking news that Kirk had died.

Kirk, 31, was in the middle of answering a question about mass shootings in the US when a single shot rang. The estimated 3,000 strong crowd erupted in panic as Kirk slumped back in his seat, having been struck in the neck from a bullet believed to be fired by a suspect lying on a nearby rooftop.

The FBI released footage yesterday of a man climbing down from a rooftop and making his escape across a car park.

“So this just happened, we just found out that Charlie Kirk got shot,” Rogan told the camera during his podcast, having just returned from a bathroom break instigated by Sheen.

“It’s a f***ed up time. People are so divided in this country,” the podcast host added in a state of disbelief.

Rogan went on to add that he had only met Kirk once, and that the right-leaning political influencer had left a good impression on him at a gun range.

“He’s not a violent guy, he’s talking to people on college campuses,” Rogan added.

“He wasn’t even particularly rude, [he] tried to be pretty reasonable with people. He’s a very intelligent guy, whether you agree with him or don’t, and there’s a lot of stuff that I didn’t agree with him on.”

Sheen, meanwhile, stated his disbelief that someone could be “murdered for having a different opinion from somebody else, different ideology from somebody.”

According to RadarOnline.com, witnesses at Kirk’s event claim that security there was lax. One individual, Tyler McGettigan, told NBC News that he did not have to pass through any sort of security on the way in.

“No one checked the barcode or the QR code,” he said. “There was no checkpoint to get in. It was literally, anyone could walk in if they wanted.”

Justin Hickens, another attendee, revealed there were no metal detectors posted outside the event, with a third person saying there were “no checkpoints, nothing, to get in here.”

Afton Miller, a member of Turning Point USA, the organization Charlie Kirk cofounded in 2012, confirmed that there didn’t appear to be “a whole lot of security.”

The FBI yesterday released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the shooting, calling on the public to contact the agency if they have seen this person or know their identity.

“The FBI is releasing video of the shooter who murdered Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Following the shooting, the individual jumps from a rooftop and runs away from the location,” the FBI said in a statement.

“Trace evidence collected from the rooftop includes shoe impressions, a forearm imprint, and a palm print. The shooter’s weapon and ammunition were recovered from a wooded area near the university.”

22-year-old Utah resident Tyler Robison is now custody for the killing of Charlie Kirk.

On Friday morning, September 12, the manhunt for the killer of Charlie Kirk ended. At a news conference, Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed the shooter is in custody. The suspected shooter has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.

“We got him. On the evening of September 11, a family member of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend who contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with information that Robinson had confessed to them or implied that he had committed the incident,” Cox said during a news conference on Friday.
