Melania Trump Is Taking On AI — Here’s What She’s Doing

First Lady Melania Trump is putting a growing focus on artificial intelligence and how it can be used to help children learn.

On Tuesday, September 15, Melania visited Mountain View Elementary School in Jefferson, North Carolina, where students are using artificial intelligence, robotics and engineering as part of their classroom education.

During the visit, she highlighted the importance of giving young students the opportunity to understand new technology while encouraging them to use it responsibly.

Her Be Best initiative, together with NVIDIA, is supporting AI education for students in Ashe County. About 1,500 students are set to receive access to an AI-powered learning platform called StudyFetch, while local schools will receive 100 Jetson Nano developer kits designed to help students explore AI and robotics.

Melania also recognized the community’s resilience following Hurricane Helene, which caused major disruption in the area and kept students out of school for more than a month.

The visit comes as Washington and technology leaders continue debating how artificial intelligence should be regulated, particularly when children are involved.

For Melania, however, the focus is on education and preparing young people for a future where technology will play an increasingly important role.

During her visit, she encouraged the students to keep experimenting and creating, even suggesting that one of them could someday build the next great robot and bring it to the White House.

AI is changing the classroom — and Melania Trump wants America’s youngest students to be ready for what’s coming.
