Diane Keaton’s heartwarming last post before her death age 79

Diane Keaton’s last ever post to social media was fittingly heartwarming prior to her death.

The iconic actress passed away on Saturday, October 11 in California aged 79. Given that there had been little in the way of warning signs prior to her death, fans naturally began to speculate what had caused it.

Speaking to People, however, a source later claimed that “She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her. It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”

The exact cause of death has not yet been determined, but 911 audio obtained by TMZ revealed heartbreaking details about what happened to the performer at the weekend.

According to 911 audio obtained by TMZ, a dispatcher reported a “person down” in the early hours of Saturday morning, October 11.

“Rescue 19, person down,” the dispatcher can be heard saying before reading out Keaton’s address.

Keaton rose to prominence in the 1970s through her standout role in The Godfather movies and her memorable collaborations with Woody Allen. She went on to win an Oscar for Best Actress for her iconic performance in Annie Hall in 1977. Over the years, she built an incredible career starring in hits like The First Wives Club, several Nancy Meyers films, and the popular Book Club movies.

“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening,” a source said.

Neither had the actress posted on social media for a long time, with her final post going out on Instagram months ago.

Yet it was typically heartfelt, with the actress celebrating National Pet Day with a picture of her dog, a Golden Retriever called Reggie, on April 11.

Keaton, a known dog lover, welcomed Reggie back in 2020.

Following her passing, a raft of high-profile figures have paid tribute, including the likes of Goldie Hawn, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Bette Middler.

“Diane Keaton was one of a kind. Brilliant, funny, and unapologetically herself,” DiCaprio wrote.

“A legend, and icon, and a truly kind human being. I had the honor of working with her at 18. She will be deeply missed.”

“Diane, we aren’t ready to lose you,” Goldie Hawn wrote on Instagram. “You’ve left us with a trail of fairy dust, filled with particles of light and memories beyond imagination… Shine your fairy dust up there, girlfriend. I’m going to miss the hell out of you.”

Bette Midler added: “The brilliant, beautiful, extraordinary Diane Keaton has died. I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me. She was hilarious, a complete original… What you saw was who she was.”

Rest in peace, Diane Keaton. Thanks for the memories!
