High school students waltz to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Perfect’

Dozens of teens twirled across the gymnasium floor, creating a storybook scene with their breathtaking performance that celebrated the timeless elegance of a centuries-old waltz with the heartfelt emotions of a contemporary song.

In a celebration that combined tradition, elegance, and contemporary charm, the Weöres Sándor Primary School and Gymnasium in Hungary held its ribbon-opening ceremony in spectacular fashion.

The most enchanting part of the ceremony was the mesmerizing Viennese waltz performed by students to Ed Sheeran’s romantic ballad “Perfect.”

The blend of classical dance with modern song created an unforgettable moment, symbolizing the school’s commitment to tradition and innovation.

The students – the girls were dressed in flowing white gowns while the boys appeared in tailored suits –glided effortlessly across the gymnasium floor with precision and grace. Their synchronized movements and fluid turns mirrored the lyrics of “Perfect,” that Sheeran wrote for his wife Cherry Seaborn, whom he met in secondary school.

Steeped in tradition
It wasn’t just the students’ graceful execution of the Viennese waltz that made it remarkable; the dance itself holds a timeless beauty as one of the oldest forms of ballroom dancing.

Originating in an era when kings and queens hosted grand gatherings, the Viennese waltz goes back to a time when dancing was an art form steeped in elegance and tradition, vastly different from what it is today.

At the time, the live performance was met with resounding applause and now, it’s leaving a lasting impression on netizens across the world, who can’t stop gushing over the romantic show.

“That was amazing. The time that these young ladies and young men took to learn this, to choreograph this, and then the courage to go in front of their family, friends, and schoolmates and perform is amazing.

Well and beautifully done. And to top it off, now they have learned to dance a beautiful waltz, something that most of us can’t do,” writes one user in the comments section of the YouTube clip that shows the students gracefully sweeping across the floor.

“One of the most magical things I’ve ever seen. Bravo to all of you!!” shares a second, while a third writes, “What a beautiful song to compliment this huge group of amazing young people. I LOVED IT!!”

Another netizen explains the clip triggered some emotions: “I’m a teacher and this brought tears to my eyes; well done teenagers,” the user adds.

Please watch the video and let us know what you think of this breathtaking performance!
