Michelle Trachtenberg’s cause of death will remain a mystery

In a tragic turn of events, the world has lost two legendary actors in a short span of time. While Gene Hackman’s death remains under investigation, Michelle Trachtenberg’s passing has left fans and the industry in shock.

But what really caused Michelle’s death? The answer may never be revealed, thanks to a shocking decision made by her family.

”She was really, really sick”
Wednesday brought devastating news — actress Michelle Trachtenberg, 39, best known for her role in Gossip Girl, was found unresponsive in her bed.

It was her mother, Lana, who arrived at Michelle’s Manhattan apartment that morning, unknowingly walking into every parent’s worst nightmare.

Michelle Trachtenberg’s death came as a shock to many, despite the fact that the actress’s health had been a topic of discussion in recent years.

According to the latest reports, Michelle Trachtenberg had been ”struggling” and was ”really sick” before her sudden passing at 39. A source told People that the actress had confided in friends about her struggles and was ”really down emotionally” in the year leading up to her death.

“She was really, really sick and open with those in her circle about how much she was struggling,” the insider revealed, adding that she appeared “pale, gaunt,” and “very thin.”

Why no autopsy
According to police sources who spoke to ABC News, Michelle Trachtenberg reportedly died from natural causes, possibly due to complications following a liver transplant. TMZ sources revealed that the actress had been battling alcohol-related issues, while People reported that she had recently undergone the transplant.

But the true cause of Michelle Trachtenberg’s death will never be revealed.

Her family made the decision not to have an autopsy performed on her body, according to Page Six. This choice was reportedly based on religious beliefs.

As a result, both the cause and manner of her death will be listed as ‘undetermined’ on her death certificate.

A spokesperson for the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in New York explained, “Under public health law, families may object to autopsy based on religious belief, and provided there is no suspicion of criminality or compelling public health reason to proceed with autopsy, the medical examiner honors the objection.”

While medical examiners did conduct an external examination of the 39-year-old actress, it now seems unlikely that any further tests will be done to determine the exact cause of her tragic passing.
