Iconic model Georgina Cooper dies during her honeymoon

Georgina Cooper, the beloved 1990s supermodel with her iconic gap-toothed smile, has died while on her honeymoon in Greece.

She was just 46.

Tragedy struck during what should have been the happiest time for iconic model Georgina Cooper and her husband Nigel.

Friends Jade Parfitt and Erin O’Connor confirmed the passing of Georgina Cooper, a mother of one, on social media on Thursday, November 8. According to reports from the Daily Mail, Cooper died from complications linked to long COVID.

Georgina Cooper was on the Greek island of Kos with her new husband, just months after their wedding, when their honeymoon turned into a nightmare. She became seriously ill and was rushed to the island’s hospital.

Cause of death
Due to the severity of her condition, she was flown by helicopter to Crete for more advanced care. Tragically, after five days in intensive care, Georgina passed away, leaving her loved ones heartbroken.

”Georgina had been unwell during Covid and had developed some health problems and had been in and out of hospital. But she had plans for the future. She had just married and was looking forward to her life. Everybody is devastated. She was a genuine superstar,” her former agent, Dean Goodman, told Daily Mail.

Despite receiving medical care after falling ill, Georgina Cooper tragically passed away at the age of 46. While the exact cause of her death has not been officially confirmed, reports suggest that a brain hemorrhage, likely linked to long COVID complications, may have contributed to her untimely passing.

Breakthrough
Georgina Cooper, one of the standout “cool Brits” of the ’90s and 2000s fashion scene, began her modeling career at just 13.

She shot to fame two years later in Bon Jovi’s music video and quickly became known for her signature gap-toothed smile.

“I was so young at the time I didn’t really understand how influential the work we were doing was until I got older and people would compliment me on the work we did together,” she said in Corinne Day’s documentary Diary, per WWD.

Gracing the covers of major magazines like The Face, Georgina’s positive, can-do attitude and iconic look made her a beloved figure in fashion, leaving a lasting impression on the industry.

Wanted to open a bar
Georgina Cooper is deeply mourned by her close friends and colleagues. Fellow model Jade Parfitt expressed on Instagram:

”One of the funniest and naughtiest, never mind most beautiful friends, we all wanted to hang out with George backstage. Sending so much love to her son, family, and friends. Gone too soon.”

High-fashion model Erin O’Connor also paid tribute, saying, ”You were an incredibly kind and funny human-being, Georgina. I/we all admired and loved you so much for the warmth, generosity, and gentle mischief you brought to the world. You ALWAYS stuck out for keeping it real.”

In the final chapter of her life, Georgina Cooper transitioned from the glamorous world of modeling to a more grounded life, working as a midwife and in the hospitality industry. After giving birth to her son, Sonny, she decided to leave modeling behind, focusing on him instead of her career.

“I tried to continue modeling, but it broke my heart when I had to leave him for work. I focused on modeling assignments in London, but my life was at a crossroads, and I decided that Sonny came first,” she told The Cultural Omnivore.

She and her partner had dreams of opening a bar in Kos, where they had family, but those plans were tragically cut short. Georgina’s legacy lives on through her loving family and the warmth she brought to everyone around her.

She is survived by her husband and son.

The laughs never showed up — and that’s exactly why it landed so hard. Jimmy Kimmel walked out on stage, skipped the punchlines, and spoke plainly about the uncertain future of public media, leaving the room unusually quiet. There was no sarcasm, no smirk. Just a steady voice talking about voices being pushed out, access to real information slipping away, and what it means when truth starts feeling out of reach. The shift was immediate — viewers could feel it. This wasn’t a bit. It wasn’t satire. It was Jimmy, speaking as himself — and it felt uncomfortably real. By the next morning, the clip was everywhere. Some praised him for saying what others won’t. Critics accused him of turning late-night TV into something it shouldn’t be. But one thing was clear: he hit on something people have been avoiding. And the simple, almost offhand example he shared at the very end turned the moment from serious… into impossible to ignore.
