A 15-year-old boy from Alabama is fighting stage 4 bone cancer and made a heartfelt plea on Facebook, seeking urgent help. His video went viral, moving millions and even reaching Donald Trump. Now, the determined teenager is set to receive the potentially life-saving treatment he needs and make an impact.

15-year-old Will Roberts is fighting for his life. He has been battling osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer, for 16 months, and despite chemotherapy, it hasn’t helped.

The boy and his family were desperate for help. That’s when Will made a decision that would change everything.

On April 22, without her knowledge, Will secretly posted a video on his mom’s Facebook page, hoping someone would see it and help.

“My mom doesn’t know I’m doing this. Yall pls share this my mom might be mad but at this point I’m trying to help her in any way I can right now,” Will Roberts wrote.

Will explained his mom had endured many sleepless nights researching treatments. He added, “My mom’s found this drug that could possibly save my life if we get it in time.”

It was then that Will’s mom found something. A potential breakthrough treatment, a drug called DeltaRex-G, might give a fighting chance.

According to the National Library of Medicine, DeltaRex-G has led to “long-term survivorship” of 10 years or more for some patients with complicated cancer forms.

In the video, which quickly went viral after it was posted on April 22, Roberts said: “I want my life, just as anybody does, but even if this won’t work out for me, if this drug can get out in the future, I mean, it’ll help hundreds of other kids.

“I really want it to get out in time for it to help me, too,” Will said, adding that anyone who saw the video please share it with either President Donald Trump or Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy.

The video went viral within days. By May 1, it had received over 6 million views and even reached the Oval Office.

Per AL, Alabama businessman Ric Meyers, a member at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, saw the post and forwarded it to the president.

Since then, it’s been reported that First Lady Melania Trump and even Barron Trump have seen the touching video. Several U.S. Representatives and senators made calls. Will and his family were also said to have gotten a call from the president’s spokesperson, who said Donald Trump would like to meet the brave boy.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator of The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, stepped in to help the family contact the Sarcoma Oncology Center in Santa Monica, California. In the end, Will got an appointment at the California clinic. Will will receive a thirty-minute treatment three times a week. However, the treatment is costly.

It will cost the family $500,000. They have already spent around $100,000 on travel, hotels, and medical expenses. A GoFundMe has now been set up to help Will and his family.

“This fundraiser is for the Roberts family, a family that would do anything for anyone – the kind of people who show up, lend a hand and open their hearts without ever asking for anything in return,” the description reads.

Wants to make a difference for other cancer patients
As of Monday, it had raised over $658,000. Although Will is fighting for his life, he still wants to make a difference for others.

Speaking to AL, he said he wants to work to ensure pediatric cancer patients receive any drugs that show promise — delivered to their hometowns at a reasonable price.

“I may not survive bone cancer. It might be too late,” Will Roberts told AL.com. “But if I can help other children have future access to proper cancer drugs without flying all over the world to get them, I’ve done my job.”
