Erika Kirk breaks silence with announcement after White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting

Erika Kirk has spoken out following the assassination attempt made against Donald Trump and other senior members of his administration on Saturday, April 25.

Shocking scenes played out at the Washington Hilton hotel as the venue hosted the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, when a gunman tried to break through a checkpoint armed with a handgun, shotgun, and knives.

The suspect was later identified as 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen, 31, from southern California. Investigators are now assessing a manifesto he reportedly wrote before carrying out the attempted assassination.

Said manifesto is alleged to include a list of targets for the shooting, ranked from highest to lowest. Trump administration officials feature at the top of the list.

Fortunately, Allen’s primary targets were whisked away to safety before any of them found themselves in harm’s way. Allen, meanwhile, was subdued after firing one shot, hitting a Secret Service agent who was protected by a bulletproof vest.

Another popular figure at the event was Erika Kirk, widowed when conservative influencer and podcaster Charlie Kirk was shot at a Turning Point USA speaking event in Utah last year.

Erika, since named CEO of TPUSA, was recorded as she left the venue after Saturday night’s assassination attempt, and could be heard saying: “I just want to go home.”

The 37-year-old mother-of-two has now addressed the incident, promising to cover it in more depth on the Charlie Kirk Show this week.

“Saturday was yet another traumatic example of the evil in our country and the continued rise in political violence,” Kirk wrote on social media. “I’m taking time to spend with my family.”

Erika added: “I will be joining The Charlie Kirk Show Wednesday at 12PM ET to briefly address what took place. Enough is enough.”

President Trump, meanwhile, expressed his wish for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to be rescheduled within 30 days, while also claiming that the shooting attempt would never have happened if “a military-secured ballroom” had been built on the grounds of the White House.

Trump, readers will likely know, is aiming to construct a ballroom as part of the planned new East Wing.

“What happened last night is exactly the reason that our great Military, Secret Service, Law Enforcement and, for different reasons, every President for the last 150 years, have been DEMANDING that a large, safe, and secure Ballroom be built ON THE GROUNDS OF THE WHITE HOUSE,” Trump wrote on Truth Social one day after the April 25 incident.

“This event would never have happened with the Militarily Top Secret Ballroom currently under construction at the White House. It cannot be built fast enough!”
