It has now been over a week since American and Israeli joint airstrikes on Iran. The airstrikes also resulted in the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on 28 February.

Since then Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks which have targeted American assets and allies in the region including in Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and in the United Arab Emirates. The conflict has since then increased.

The Pentagon has identified several US service members who have since been killed in the conflict. The seventh American personnel killed was 26-year-old Army Sgt Benjamin N Pennington. Earlier, President Donald Trump met with the families of the six soliders who died at the transfer ritual at Dover Air Force Base.

This is the service when American service members who are killed in combat are returned home. The six fallen service members died when an ‘unmanned aircraft system’ evaded air defences and hit a command centre in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, on 1 March.

According to reports, the fallen soldiers have been identified as Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M Marzan, 54, Maj Jeffrey R O’Brien, 45, Capt Cody Khork, 35, Sgt Noah Tietjens, 42, Sgt Nicole Amor, 39, and Sgt Declan Coady, 20.

.”These men and women all bravely volunteered to defend our country, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll said in a statement made to the public.

President Trump said the deaths had been very sad and promised to keep the deaths of American personnel in the conflict to a minimum.

As he spoke to media, the world leader was asked about how many US casulaties he was willing to withstand which prompted the President to talk about his meeting with the families of those killed.

He said, “When you have conflicts like this, you always have death. And I was at Dover [Delaware] yesterday. I met the parents, and they were unbelievable people.”

He added, “They were unbelievable people, but they all had one thing in common. They said to me one thing, every single one: ‘Finish the job, sir, please finish the job.’”

This comes after the President told CBS News, “I think the war is very complete, pretty much,” adding that the country was ‘very far ahead of schedule’.

He also said, “[Iran has] no navy, no communications, they’ve got no air force. Their missiles are down to a scatter. Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones.”

The President also said that all he wanted was an end to the war, “Wrapping up is all in my mind, nobody else’s.”
