Erika Kirk’s slip of tongue causes major debate

Erika Kirk has been very vocal since her husband, Charlie Kirk, was killed earlier this year. She has since taken on the role of CEO and has been running his organization, Turning Point USA.

However, a speech she made at a recent event is causing a lot of conversation. Keep reading to know more.

Erika Kirk has been carrying the torch for her late husband, Charlie Kirk, by carrying on the work he had been doing for his organization, Turning Point USA. Erika was speaking at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest event in Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday, December 20, when she made a slip of tongue that immediately went viral.

The 37-year-old widow, unfortunately, used the word ‘grift’ instead of saying ‘grit’ when she was speaking of her late husband’s work.

One person immediately wrote their reaction on X, saying, “This is the greatest Freudian slip of all time.”

Erika Kirk stepped into the role of CEO after her husband was assassinated in September of this year. Erika’s slip was at an event honoring a student named Caleb Chilcutt, who was with Charlie when he was fatally shot. He was standing next to her, receiving the Charlie Kirk Courage Award.

Kirk was assassinated at an event at Utah Valley University, where Chillcut was a student. He also helped organize a memorial for Kirk on his campus later on.

When Kirk makes the mistake, she immediately follows up with an excuse, “Despite the devastating loss of Charlie Kirk, my incredible husband… Caleb has persisted with the same grift,” before she quickly adds, “Excuse me, gift,” and then correcting herself one more time to say, “grit.”

When the mistake happened, she put a hand on her chest and sighed. She then put both her hands on the podium and leaned forward before she addressed the audience directly, saying, “it has been a long day.” She followed this up with looking at Chilcutt and saying, “Trust me, you’re not a grifter, honey. It’s all good.”

The moment, however, went viral as expected.

“Greatest Freudian slip of all time followed by shameless grin of all time,” one person commented.

“Sooner or later the truth slips out!” another person wrote.

The event where this transpired was Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, which was held from December 18 to 21. This slip of the tongue became the most viral moment of the festival.
