Although King Charles may live for many years to come, his funeral plans are already being finalized. Just as Queen Elizabeth II, the 76-year-old has been involved in planning his own funeral, and now, he is claimed to have made a big decision. Despite the rift, his son, Harry, and daughter-in-law, Meghan, could get ‘prominent’ roles.

Death is entirely natural, but it still leaves deep wounds for family members. When it’s time to leave Earth for good, one wants all affairs in order, and for Charles, one thing needs to be fixed: his relationship with his estranged son, Prince Harry.

A reconciliation between Harry, Meghan Markle, and the Royal Family looks far, far away after what has happened in the years following their royal exit in 2021. Harry has spoken openly about his feelings towards the royals, both in his bombshell book, Spare, and in a series of interviews.

He appeared in an extraordinary BBC interview some months ago, claiming that his father, King Charles, refuses to speak to him. The estranged prince said he would “love reconciliation” with his family.

“There have been so many disagreements, differences, between me and some of my family,” Harry said, adding that “some members” of his family will “never forgive him” for what he’s done, including “writing a book.”

The Royal Family has not issued a single statement regarding Harry’s numerous comments or allegations. A source told Us Weekly in May that the royals feel “hurt and betrayed” by the prince. Prince William, it’s claimed, has had the most visceral reaction, being left “more hurt than anything else.”

King Charles is reportedly heartbroken about not getting to see his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Additionally, since Harry didn’t receive the protection he claimed his family needed to visit the UK, there is no indication that they will meet anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry’s relationship with his brother, Prince William, is said to be terrible, as they haven’t spoken in over two years. Some claims even state that the next time they will meet is at their father’s funeral.

Although we don’t know if that will be the case, a new report suggests that William and Harry will likely have to meet earlier than that due to the funeral. Why? The Telegraph reports that Harry and Meghan could get ‘prominent’ roles at King Charles’ funeral.

When Queen Elizabeth II passed away, plans for King Charles’s death were immediately implemented. Operation Menai Bridge is a detailed plan for what will happen when the monarch dies—including, of course, his funeral plans—and many things that will occur in the hours following his passing will be traditionally the same as for any deceased monarch.

Charles’s private secretary will contact his family, the Prime Minister, the Cabinet Secretary, the King’s Privy Council Office, and other senior ministers and officials. The Firm will then issue an “official notification” to the public, and there are already scripts in place for how other officials will be alerted.

Meanwhile, the cabinet secretary will continue to email senior civil servants and ministers. As soon as the messages are received, the flags at Whitehall — including the royal castles — will be lowered to half-mast.

King Charles is in the center of planning his own funeral. For example, King Charles reportedly intends to continue his commitment to environmental causes until the end, as he wants the ceremony to incorporate sustainable and eco-conscious elements.

Moreover, he reportedly has opted to have one day of royal mourning after his funeral, just like the rest of the nation. When Queen Elizabeth II passed away, the royal mourning period lasted a week following the service.

King Charles, of course, gets to pick who will – and will not – be attending the funeral. A new bombshell report from The Telegraph suggests that not only will he want Harry and Meghan there, but that they will also receive ‘prominent’ roles.

The source reports that King Charles has made a conscious effort to include not only his son and daughter-in-law, but also their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The estranged prince is expected to walk alongside William during the formal procession through London.

Moreover, the Duke and Duchess will be invited to participate in the family vigil when the monarch is lying in state at Westminster Hall and get “prominent roles” during the funeral.
