The ongoing divorce proceedings between Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have taken a surprising and “dramatic” twist, according to reports.

The shock news broke yesterday that the superstar couple were splitting from one another after almost 20 years, with it claimed that Urban had been the driving force behind the decision.

TMZ reported that the couple had been living separately for months now, and that Kidman was looking after their daughter’s while Urban resided in a new home in Nashville.

A further update today suggests that Kidman has officially filed for divorce from Urban, and court documents acquired by People shed light on a decision that appears to have been made regarding who will have primary care of the duo’s daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

Kidman, it’s claimed, has asked to become the primary residential parent of the girls. Urban has reportedly agreed to a deal that would see Kidman spend 306 days with their daughters, while he will take care of them for just 59 days of the year.

Earlier this week it was reported that Oscar-winner Kidman wanted to save her marriage, but Urban, 57, has other plans.

According to People Magazine, a source has confided that the high-profile split is quickly turning “dramatic”.

“Their split is turning dramatic. Nicole’s hurt and feels betrayed,” the source claimed. “She wanted to save their marriage and believed that she could, but it seems he’s already moved on.”

The root cause of the divorce is yet unknown to the public, but there has been speculation insisting that the couple’s respective schedules have played a role. Other sources claim that Urban has grown to resent the number of steamy sex scenes featuring his wife in a recent spate of moves, though this, we must stress, hasn’t been backed up by any credible evidence.

That said, back in July, during a radio interview with Mix 102.3’s Hayley & Max in the Morning, country music star Urban was asked: “What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV?”

Urban refused to answer the question, while his team immediately “disconnected from Zoom”.

A source at the time speculated following the interaction: “Keith is clearly not happy about what Nicole is doing, and his very visible anger on that Zoom call has sent talk into overdrive that the couple is at a breaking point unless Nicole gives up sex scenes.

“They clearly send him mad with jealousy.”

One source did infer to the Daily Mail that the sheer volume of projects Kidman has been taking on recently has played a part.

“Keith never sees Nicole, either she is filming or he is on tour. There was a lot of love between the two and they might not divorce,” said source revealed.

“They been together for decades so there is a world which they can reconcile, but the way their pairing is now, they are not a couple.”
