Authorities release mugshot of Tyler Robinson, suspect in Charlie Kirk shooting

The face of the man suspected of shooting Charlie Kirk has now been revealed after his mugshots were released to the public.

A much-publicized manhunt
22-year-old Tyler Robinson, of Utah, was revealed earlier today as the suspected shooter who murdered Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 10.

A much-publicized manhunt had been underway to find the individual responsible for Kirk’s death two days ago. Close to 3,000 people had gathered for the aforementioned rally, when a single gunshot rang out 20 minutes in.

Kirk was in the process of addressing a question regarding mass shootings in the US, when the shot – which came from a nearby rooftop – was fired.

The crowd erupted in panic as Kirk slumped in his seat. The 31-year-old was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead 90 minutes later.

Authorities leapt into action in the immediate aftermath of the killing, instigating a concentrated search for the culprit that involved the FBI.

The FBI yesterday released new footage of an individual jumping down from a rooftop and fleeing the scene, while a rifle and ammunition were found in nearby woodland.

That suspect was recently named as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old living in Utah.

At a press conference on Friday, Utah Governor Spencer Cox opened by declaring, ”We got him.”

He went on to explain how the FBI tracked down the suspect, saying the agency acted on a tip from a family member of Robinson. The relative contacted a family friend, who then reached out to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Fox News senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich revealed that sources told her the suspect was “walked in” near St. George, Utah, after 11 p.m. Thursday.

A mugshot of Robinson was also released, giving the public a clearer picture of the man who has been the subject of intense speculation over the past 48 hours.

According to Cox, the tipster revealed that “Robinson had confessed to them or implied that he had committed the incident.”

Investigators also spoke with another family member, who noted that Robinson had become “more political” in recent years.

The relative remembered a dinner before the September 10 shooting, during which Robinson brought up that Kirk was scheduled to appear at Utah Valley University.

“They talked about why they didn’t like him and the viewpoints that he had,” Cox said.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox said in today’s press conference that Robinson had become more political in recent years, and expressed his dislike of Kirk, telling family members he believed the right-wing political influencer was “full of hate and spreading hate.”
