Police Share Warning About New Trend Affecting Some Walmart Shoppers

According to police in Lubbock, Texas:

Two suspects allegedly installed a hidden skimming device on a checkout terminal inside a Walmart Neighborhood Market.
Investigators say the device captured information from 149 credit and debit cards before it was discovered.
The suspects face multiple felony charges, including credit card fraud, identity theft, and unlawfully intercepting electronic communications.
Authorities believe the operation may be connected to a larger organized crime network operating across several Texas counties.

Police recommend shoppers:

Inspect card readers for anything loose, bulky, or unusual before inserting a card.
Use tap-to-pay or a mobile wallet when available, as these are generally more resistant to skimming.
Monitor bank and credit card statements regularly for unauthorized transactions.
Report suspicious payment terminals or unexpected charges to the retailer, your bank, and local law enforcement immediately.
