Dad defends taking daughters into women’s restroom after man calls police on him

A man traveling with his two young daughters has gone viral after a man called the police on him for using a women’s restroom at an Alabama gas station.

Oklahoma dad Tyler Brodsky was driving home from Florida with his daughters last weekend when he stopped at a QuikTrip gas station in Alabama.

He checked the women’s restroom was empty before taking his girls inside, not wanting to bring them into what he described as “a men’s bathroom full of grown men and dirty stalls.”

While he was helping his daughters wash their hands, another man appeared in the doorway and began demanding they leave. The man called 911 and could be heard telling the dispatcher: “There is a man with his two little girls using the women’s bathroom. He is washing his hands with his daughters right now.”

Man who called police fired
He also told police his wife and mother-in-law – who he said was “very ill” and “on life support” – were waiting to use the restroom and felt uncomfortable with Brodsky inside.

@tylerbrodsky2 Y’all make this man famous. We stopped at a QuikTrip on our road trip from Florida back to Oklahoma so my daughters could use the restroom. The women’s restroom was empty, so I took them in. I’d rather do that than bring two little girls into a men’s bathroom full of grown men and dirty stalls. This guy comes barging in yelling, scares my daughters, and somehow thinks THEY should’ve been in the men’s room instead. Am I wrong here? 🤷‍♂️ #GirlDad #RoadTrip #parenting #fyp #viral ♬ original sound – Tyler Brodsky

One of Brodsky’s daughters was heard crying during the confrontation. A QuikTrip employee eventually stepped in, shut the door on the man and apologized to the family. Police attended but took no action against Brodsky.

Brodsky posted the video to TikTok, where it quickly went viral. The man who called police was identified as a Mississippi-based real estate contractor.

The company he worked for swiftly fired him, a representative confirmed to TMZ, saying his actions did not align with the company’s values. He had been on a personal trip unrelated to his work at the time.

Dad speaks out
Brodsky has since spoken to Fox News and TMZ, saying he was shocked the video blew up the way it did. He said he knocked and announced himself before entering, and that the bathroom was empty at the time.

“I’ve personally been in men’s restrooms,” he told Fox & Friends.

“I just didn’t feel like it was a good place to take two little girls.”

He has also set up a GoFundMe, with a portion of the donations going to the QuikTrip employee who intervened, saying she deserved recognition for stepping in to help his family.

Brodsky said he hopes the incident leads to a wider conversation about family restrooms.

“If we can get that into every establishment, that’s going to be huge, so other parents don’t have to experience what I went through with my kids.”
