Hero Amazon driver rescues woman from husband trying to kill her with a hammer

When an Amazon delivery driver arrived at a home where he was supposed to drop off a package, things quickly took a dramatic turn – and he ended up saving a woman’s life.

What started as a normal workday for an Amazon delivery driver in Minnesota suddenly became far more serious when he arrived at a home in Wyoming on May 11 to deliver a package.

As he pulled into the driveway, the driver realized something was wrong after hearing a woman screaming inside the house. According to Chisago County court documents obtained by KSTP, he decided to intervene and check on the situation.

When he approached the door, the driver reportedly saw a blood-covered woman and her 72-year-old husband wielding a hammer, according to Café Mom.

He then forced his way inside and ordered the man to drop the hammer before calling 911. First responders later arrived at the scene and reportedly described the woman’s injuries as serious.

“The witness’s actions contributed to bringing the situation to an end”
According to KSTP, the suspect allegedly struck his wife in the head with the hammer multiple times in an attempt to kill her, leaving indentations in her skull.

The 78-year-old suspect allegedly told police the attack stemmed from financial problems tied to his business. According to police, he said his wife would have to live on “significantly reduced” Social Security benefits and claimed he did not want that to happen.

He is now facing charges of premeditated attempted first-degree murder and assault after allegedly admitting he had planned to kill his wife.

If the Amazon driver had not interrupted the attack when he did, the woman may not have survived. In a statement shared on social media, the Wyoming Police Department praised the witness for stepping in.

“The Wyoming Police Department would also like to acknowledge the actions of the witness who intervened during this incident. The witness’s actions contributed to bringing the situation to an end and assisting the victim. We look forward to recognizing those efforts at an appropriate time.

“Our thoughts remain with the victim and all those impacted by this incident.”
