Rod Stewart sparks backlash over bombshell claim involving Donald Trump and King Charles

King Charles state visit to the U.S has been portrayed as a huge success. However, both during and after the stay, one detail in particular has been controversial. Now, there’s been more fuel added to the fire as Sir Rod Stewart made a bombshell remark about Trump while speaking to King Charles.

King Charles and Queen Camilla spent four days in the U.S in early May. They began their state visit with two days in Washington, D.C., during which they spent much time with President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

Charles, who, in his role as monarch, must not take sides in politics, delivered a praised address to Congress as part of his visit. However, twice Donald Trump appeared to drag King Charles into politics, prompting Buckingham Palace to issue a statement.

On Tuesday, Donald and Melania Trump hosted King Charles and Queen Camilla for a State Dinner. However, it didn’t take long before he made a shocking claim about King Charles and the conflict with Iran.

Charles had not mentioned Iran specifically earlier on during the trip, nor in his speech to Congress. The only thing he mentioned was the “conflict in the Middle East.”

However, Donald Trump claimed Charles supported him over the Iran war, saying, “We’re doing a little Middle East work right now… and we’re doing very well.

Donald Trump claimed King Charles “agrees” with him over ‘Iran’s nuclear weapons’
“We have militarily defeated that particular opponent, and we’re never going to let that opponent ever, Charles agrees with me even more than I do. We’re never going to let that opponent have a nuclear weapon. They know that, and they’ve known it right now, very powerfully,” he continued.

The statement forced a Buckingham Palace spokesperson to respond. Speaking to The Sun, he said, “The King is naturally mindful of his Government’s long-standing and well-known position on the prevention of nuclear proliferation.”

King Charles’ visit was praised by people in both the U.K. and the U.S., not least for the many jokes and the grace he showed. Meanwhile, as part of his non-political stance, he has not shared his true thoughts on Donald Trump.

However, another celebrity has now done so, and he did so when speaking to King Charles.

During an event at the Royal Albert Hall celebrating the monarch’s five decades with his charitable organization, The King’s Trust, Sir Rod Stewart and King Charles shared what GB News called an “uncomfortable moment”.

Backlash after Rod Stewart calls Trump “rat bag” while speaking to King Charles
Rod Stewart spoke briefly to King Charles when greeting him on the red carpet, mentioning the recent American state visit. However, he sparked backlash over his words about Donald.

“May I say well done in the Americas,” Stewart told King Charles, per GB News. “You were superb. Absolutely superb. You put that little rat bag in his place.”

The singer’s comments were quickly criticized online by royal fans, who were unhappy that Sir Rod brought the politically neutral king into a political discussion.

One social media user wrote: “Hopefully he didn’t mean the President.

“[King Charles] worked very hard to smooth the US & UK relations,” a second added.

A third simply stated, ” Not funnt at all.”

Donald Trump has not commented on what Rod Stewart told the king.
