Behind the hard-hitting White House questions, Peter Doocy has a private life that looks nothing like what viewers see on TV

He’s grilled presidents, made headlines at press briefings, and gone viral more than once. But off-camera, Peter Doocy is all about family — and his wife, Hillary Vaughn, is a force of her own.

Both are respected reporters for Fox. Both work on Capitol Hill. And now, they’re raising two kids under three, and still finding ways to smile through the chaos.

A White House Star — and a Fox Family Man
Peter Doocy, 35, joined Fox News back in 2009. The son of Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy, he carved out his own reputation fast — covering everything from Hurricane Sandy to presidential elections.

In 2021, he became White House correspondent, where he’s known for sharp, direct questions — and one very memorable moment in January 2022, when President Biden was caught on a hot mic calling him a “stupid son of a b***h.”

The comment followed Doocy’s question about inflation:

“Do you think inflation is a political liability ahead of the midterms?”

Later that day, Doocy said Biden called him and told him:

“It’s nothing personal, pal.”

Meet Hillary Vaughn — Journalist, Capitol Hill Pro, and Boy Mom
Doocy’s wife, Hillary Vaughn, 32, is a rising star at Fox Business Network.
Known for her Capitol Hill reporting, Vaughn has also worked with Fox News, Yahoo Finance, and local Fox affiliates in cities like Chicago, Tampa, Detroit, and Washington, D.C.

She’s sharp, polished, and just as focused on the story as her husband, though she tends to keep a lower profile.

Their Low-Key Wedding (With One Famous Best Man)
Peter and Hillary tied the knot in April 2021, in a small ceremony in South Carolina.

It stayed quiet — until Peter’s dad, Steve Doocy, spilled the beans on Fox & Friends, revealing that he proudly served as Peter’s best man.

From “I’m Eating for Two” to Baby #2
In September 2022, Vaughn revealed on-air that she was pregnant with their first child — joking,

“I’m eating for two.”

That February, they welcomed their daughter, Bridget Blake Doocy, born on February 1, 2023.
The couple gushed about their growing family, and Vaughn even shared that her water broke during her commute to Capitol Hill.

“I knew where all the offices were for senators who used to be doctors,” she joked.

Baby No. 2 Arrives — on Their Wedding Anniversary
Just over two years later, the Doocy family grew again.
On April 16, 2025, Peter and Hillary welcomed a baby boy, George Jack Doocy, in Washington, D.C.

He weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces, and measured 20.5 inches long.

And the timing? Iconic. George was born on Tax Day, their fourth wedding anniversary, and just after Hillary wrapped a Capitol Hill segment on taxes.

“Maybe he was tired of hearing me talk about taxes, I don’t blame him!” Vaughn quipped.

She also joked about the transition to life as a boy mom, adding that diaper changes are already an adventure.

Big Sister Bridget Steps Up
At just 2 years old, Bridget is already embracing her role as a big sister.

Peter shared that she was the first to sing “Happy Birthday” to baby George at the hospital — a moment the couple won’t forget.

Steve Doocy also weighed in with a funny detail:
Just before the birth, a bird flew into Peter’s car, which Steve jokingly called “a sign” that George was on the way.

Whether they’re at the podium or the playground, Peter Doocy and Hillary Vaughn are showing what it means to grow a family — while balancing two demanding careers in the spotlight.

It’s a love story, a newsroom partnership, and now a family of four — and they’re just getting started.
