Stolen Power Inside Washington

A senior official who served in the Biden administration’s State Department has just pleaded

guilty to a jaw-dropping theft — and the numbers are staggering.

Levita Almuete Ferrer, 64, a former senior budget analyst in the Office of the Chief of Protocol, admitted to embezzling $657,347.50 over two years.

According to a report by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for D.C., she wrote dozens of checks to herself and

deposited them into personal accounts while disguising them in the State Department’s accounting system.

Prosecutors said Ferrer used QuickBooks to change payee records after printing each check, falsely

assigning the funds to real vendors to avoid detection.

She pleaded guilty to theft of government property and will be sentenced on September 18.

New York Post reported that Ferrer has agreed to repay the stolen funds and faces up to 10 years in prison under federal sentencing guidelines.
