Donald Trump has never been one to mince his words as it relates to public speaking, but his late-night Thanksgiving message to Americans might have raised eyebrows even among his followers.

Following a day of renewed debate regarding immigration in the US – centering around the shooting of two National Guard members in Washington DC earlier this week – Trump pushed a firm-handed, if not vitriolic narrative where he, among other ramblings, branded Governor Tim Walz “retarded” and called for a permanent pause on all immigration from “all Third World Countries.”

The Truth Social post in question began with a standard message of holiday greetings for Americans, but rapidly devolved into a rant focused on immigration, crime, and the putting down of his political opponents.

Trump reacted angrily earlier this week in the wake of two members of the National Guard being shot close to the White House. The suspected shooter – in hospital after being shot four times by law enforcement – has been identified as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan national who arrived in the US in September 2021.

In his Thanksgiving address on Truth Social, Trump promised to “permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions.”

He also took aim at political rivals, penning: “The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both, while the worst “Congressman/woman” in our Country, Ilhan Omar, always wrapped in her swaddling hijab, and who probably came into the U.S.A. illegally in that you are not allowed to marry your brother, does nothing but hatefully complain about our Country, its Constitution, and how “badly” she is treated, when her place of origin is a decadent, backward, and crime ridden nation.”

Walz fired back on X by reposting the message with the caption: “Release the MRI results,” referring to a recent MRI undergone by the president.

Trump’s message concluded with: “Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation. Other than that, HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL, except those that hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for — You won’t be here for long!”

Despite Trump’s insistence that the suspect in the shooting of the National Guard members, the aforementioned Lakanwal, was a result of the Biden administration’s immigration policies, CNN revealed that Lakanwal actually applied for asylum in 2024 and saw it granted by the Trump administration in April 2025.

When a reported alerted Trump to the point that federal agencies insisted they had undertaken extensive vetting of Afghan arrivals, meanwhile, Trump labeled her “stupid”, dodging the question as to whether the suspect’s asylum approval occurred under his watch.

I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country, end all Federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens of our Country, denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization. These goals will be pursued with the aim of achieving a major reduction in illegal and disruptive populations, including those admitted through an unauthorized and illegal Autopen approval process. Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation.
