22-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg earned world fame following her climate strike movement, which started in 2018. But as she’s now grown up, Thunberg has skipped one thing many might try. She has never had a drink, and there’s a reason for it.

Greta Thunberg is continuing her activism. As of the latest, she was a part of the flotilla carrying aid bound for Gaza. But as Israel intercepted their boats, the Swedish climate activist was detained.

While the several-day-long captivity might scare many, Greta Thunberg is not giving up on her cause. Meanwhile, as she became a worldwide celebrity following her climate strike, even speaking at the UN, she is not making any money off it.

Speaking to The Times in 2022, she said her only form of income was the student grant she received for going to university.

“The proceeds that I will make will go to charity. It would be nice to have money, but by donating… For example, if I donate it to rewilding or nature conservation, I can start a debate on that. If I donate to refugees, you can talk about why – and then you can explain,” she said.

As one enters adulthood, there are many exciting new things to try. One of those might be to get to have your first drink, but in Greta Thunberg’s case, that hasn’t happened.

She told The Times that she’s never been drunk and that she “never go out drinking” or does anything “stupid.”

“I don’t know if that’s because I’m that kind of person or if it is because I don’t want to be ‘seen’. I guess it could be both,” Greta Thunberg explained.
