18-Year-Old Tennis Star Braun Levi Killed by Suspected Drunk Driver

Braun Levi, a top-ranked 18-year-old tennis player from Loyola High School in Los Angeles, tragically lost his life on May 4 in a suspected DUI crash in Manhattan Beach. Just days earlier, Levi had celebrated his fourth consecutive Mission League doubles title with partner Cooper Schwartz. He was set to graduate and attend the University of Virginia.

Levi’s family had recently relocated to South Bay after losing their home in a fire earlier this year. The suspected driver, Jenia Belt, 33, had a suspended license due to a prior DUI case and is now being held without bail for DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

Loyola High School and the broader community are mourning Levi’s loss. Described as a talented athlete, compassionate leader, and beloved friend, Levi touched countless lives. His school held a candlelight vigil in his honor, and tributes poured in from friends, classmates, and organizations like Maccabi USA.

Levi is survived by his parents, Daniel and Jennifer, and his sister Adelle. His memory continues to inspire those who knew him. The tragedy serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of living fully and cherishing loved ones.
