Celtic Thunder stuns crowd with ‘the Sound of Silence’ cover

There are some songs that are certified classics and are given new life again and again by artists doing a cover of them. These songs make a major mark when they come out, and in the subsequent years, different artists try to put their own mark on the music.

One such song is, ‘The Sound of Silence’ by by Simon and Garfunkel. The song was released in 1964 and ever since its release, it has been covered by various artists and is a fan favorite when it comes to karaoke sessions.

But the cover of the song performed by Celtic Thunder was indeed something else. Keep reading to learn more.

While a lot of songs are great when they are originally released, some songs tend to live on mostly because of how many times they are covered over and over again. While the original is always popular, there are some covers that tend to become special as well. For example, Dolly Parton’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ was covered by Whitney Houston, and you can argue that there are those who love the cover more than the original.

Similarly, while Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘The Sound of Silence’ came out in 1964, the song is still loved by audiences today because of contemporary artists singing a cover and lending it a new life.

The rock band Disturbed has famously covered the song in 2015. And recently, a group named Celtic Thunder redid the song. They did not just copy the song, but they put a unique spin on it with their vocals, which is what entranced audiences.

The group consists of Irish performers who have beautifully melodious voices, and the way they produce their music makes everything even better. It does not matter what song they are singing; they have a talent that shows in amazing ways.

The band came together in 2007 and since then have been steadily making a name for themselves. Their cover of ‘The Sound of Silence’ truly will make them a band to be remembered for a long time. The music is simple; instruments paired with their soulful vocals to make the song one to remember.

Take a listen to the song yourself.
