Beloved Reality TV star dies with beloved dog at his side in horror boating accident

A pilot for the National Geographic series Wicked Tuna perished in a boating mishap.

Charlie Griffin went missing Sunday night while boating with a friend in North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

The Coast Guard reports two Virginia Beach boaters were late arriving to Wanchese, North Carolina, where their boat required repairs Sunday night at 11 p.m.

A Coast Guard spokesman for The Virginian-Pilot said they had not been seen or heard from since 6:15 that evening.

On Monday, local first responders and Coast Guard personnel discovered the vacant vessel. Going inside, they discovered the corpses of Griffin and his dog.

As of Monday night, officials are still searching for the second individual meant to accompany the journey.

A tragic entry on Griffin’s Facebook page, Reels of Fortune, verified his passing.

Posted with the caption, “It is with the deepest sadness that we report that Charlie Griffin and his beloved dog, Leila, have died in a boating accident today,” a photo of Griffin beaming and soaking some sun appeared.

Keep family and friends in your thoughts and prayers, please.

Starting in Season 2 of Wicked Tuna, Griffin worked as an actor in North Carolina until Season 5.

The continuing reality television series on National Geographic tracks seasoned anglers who earn a living by catching large fish worth tens of thousands of dollars.
