“I’ve now been making these for 30 years!

These classic turtle candies combine crunchy toasted pecans, soft caramel, and smooth melted chocolate for a delicious homemade treat—perfect as a gift or a sweet indulgence. The ingredients include 12 oz of soft caramels (store-bought or homemade), 6 oz of pecan halves, and 8 oz of semi-sweet chocolate. Start by toasting the pecans in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes until they’re fragrant and golden,

then let them cool. Meanwhile, melt the caramels in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, or in a saucepan over low heat while stirring constantly. On a parchment-lined baking sheet, arrange the pecans in clusters of 3–4 to resemble a turtle’s legs,

then spoon about 1 tablespoon of melted caramel over each cluster. Let them set for 10–15 minutes. Next, melt the chocolate using the same method and spoon about 1 tablespoon over each caramel-pecan cluster, spreading it to cover the caramel. Allow the candies to set at room temperature for about 1 hour,

or place them in the fridge for 20–30 minutes to speed up the process. Once set, they’re ready to enjoy! Store the turtle candies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks
