Anderson Cooper’s Journey to Fatherhood

At the age of 12, Anderson Cooper grappled with the realization that he might never be able to have children, being gay. Fast forward to today, at 54, he is a proud and happy dad to two beautiful sons. Life has taken him on a different path than he anticipated.

In April 2020, Cooper welcomed his first son, Wyatt Morgan, into the world. Wyatt’s name carries deep meaning for Anderson – he chose to honor his late father, Wyatt Emory Cooper, through his son’s name. Additionally, the name Morgan comes from Anderson’s late mother, Gloria Vanderbilt’s side of the family.

Before Wyatt’s arrival, Anderson had accumulated numerous books on parenting, but hadn’t quite gotten around to reading them. It wasn’t long before he realized that having the books around wasn’t enough – he needed to dive into them! Despite initial uncertainties about fatherhood, Anderson quickly fell in love with every aspect of being a parent. He attributes much of his parenting success to the unwavering support he receives from his ex-partner, Benjamin Maisani, who is an excellent co-parent.

Although their relationship may seem unconventional, Anderson acknowledges the incredible bond they share as family and co-parents. He speaks highly of Benjamin, stating, “It’s probably an unusual setup, but I knew he would be a great dad, and he is.”

Recently, Anderson shared some joyous news on his show, Anderson Cooper 360. He introduced his newest addition to the family, Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper. Sebastian was born healthy and has brought immeasurable joy to Anderson’s life. In fact, even his occasional hiccups bring a smile to his face. Sebastian is in the process of being adopted by Benjamin Maisani, Anderson’s best friend and co-parent, further solidifying the loving bond that exists within their family.

With both Wyatt and Sebastian by his side, Anderson plans to navigate the joys and challenges of parenthood alongside Benjamin. As a second-time parent, he feels much more at ease and is cherishing every moment as his children grow.

Now, with a growing family, Anderson intends to take a break from work to fully immerse himself in the wonder of fatherhood. He cherishes the little moments with his sons and wants to savor their childhood while they are still young.

Congratulations to Anderson Cooper on his wonderful family! His journey to fatherhood is an inspiration to all, reminding us that life has a way of surprising us in the most beautiful ways.

Feel free to share this heartwarming news with everyone you know, and let Anderson’s story bring a smile to their faces too!
