Austin Metcalf’s twin brother delivers stinging 6-word rebuke to Karmelo Anthony

Karmelo Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of Austin Metcalf last year. After the sentence was delivered, Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, delivered a scathing 6-word scolding of the convicted murderer in the courtroom.

On Tuesday, 19-year-old Karmelo Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison after being found guilty of murdering 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas, in April 2025.

After less than three hours of deliberation, the jury returned a guilty verdict and ultimately sentenced Anthony to 35 years behind bars.

But some of the most emotional moments came after the verdict, when Austin Metcalf’s family addressed the courtroom. Austin’s mother, Meghan Metcalf, spoke about the devastating reality of losing her son and the painful silence that has followed his death.

“Now my conversations with him are one-sided, sitting at his grave,” she said. “I have to accept that instead of walking beside me, he’s walking above me.”

She described the everyday reminders of her loss — walking past Austin’s empty room, seeing his empty bed, and facing each day without him.

Remembering the kind of person her son was, Meghan called Austin a “morning kid” and a “hugger” who had a gift for bringing people together.

But the most memorable moment from the court room was when Austin Metcalf’s twin brother, Hunter, spoke direclty to Karmelo Anthony.

Standing before the court, Hunter spoke directly to Anthony, describing the devastating impact of losing not only a brother but also the person he considered his closest friend.

Per CBS Texas, Hunter said Austin was supposed to be there for life’s biggest moments — including becoming an uncle to his future children. Instead, that future was stolen in an instant.

The grieving brother admitted he had spent months struggling with anger and trying to find forgiveness. Yet he made it clear that the loss his family has endured can never be undone.

“Eventually your name will be forgotten,” he told Anthony. “But my brother’s memory will live on.”

“You took a son, a brother, a friend, and my best friend, from this world. You took someone from me who was supposed to be an uncle, godfather to my kids. Now I want everything taken from you,” Hunter choked through tears in a Texas courtroom, CBS Texas reported.
