RFK Jr. makes bizarre Charlie Kirk claim during memorial service

Hundreds of mourners said their last goodbyes to Charlie Kirk on Sunday during a memorial at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Donald Trump was not in attendance, but his Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was.

RFK Jr. gave a speech where he paid tribute to the late conservative political influencer, who was fatally shot last Wednesday in Utah. But one detail had people talking, as the health secretary made a bizarre claim about his and Charlie’s past.

Charlie Kirk’s death has stunned America. The conservative media pundit was fatally shot during an event at Utah Valley College last week, and after a 33-hour manhunt, the primary suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, turned himself in.

Vigils for Charlie Kirk have been held nationwide. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, in Glendale, Arizona, at State Farm Stadium. During the previous weekend, a vigil was held at the Kennedy Center, attended by many politicians.

Among them was Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Secretary of Health and Human Services, who delivered a speech in front of the hundreds of mourners. He began his speech by making an anecdote about his 17-year-old niece, supposedly getting ready to attend college in Europe.

“There are millions and millions of kids around the country who he inspired who now want to live with Charlie Kirk. And that’s a great thing for our country,” RFK Jr. said.

Robert F Kennedy Jr. claims he and Charlie Kirk became “soulmates” 24 years ago
However, what followed sparked a conversation on social media. According to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., he and Charlie Kirk became “soulmates” when they met… in 2001.

“I met Charlie for the first time in July of 2001. I went on his podcast, and I think we approached each other with a lot of trepidation at that time, but by the end of the podcast, we were soulmates. We were spiritual brothers,” RFK Jr. said.

“We were friends. And over the next couple of years, our friendship blossomed.”

In 2001, Kirk was only eight years old. He was born on October 14, 1993, in Illinois. Social media users quickly questioned the health secretary’s words. Since Kirk launched his podcast in 2020, RKF Jr. most likely meant 2021. But that didn’t stop social media users from questioning his statement,

“In 2001, Charlie Kirk was eight years old,” one social media user stated.

Another said, “RFK Jr., claiming he bonded with 8-year-old Charlie Kirk on a 2001 podcast that didn’t exist yet? That’s not a soulmate story, it’s a straight-up hallucination.”

“What’s up with constant lying in this Administration? The lies are easy to be proven wrong,” a third claimed. A fourth added: “Lies, lies, and more lies from ‘the Right’. And honestly, RFK Jr. might actually believe this happened.”

“This is just a misspeak”
Meanwhile, others backed up RFK Jr.

“He meant 2021, people make mistakes,” one wrote.

“This is just a misspeak. Likely meant 2021 (I’ve made the same verbal miscue),” a second added.

Charlie Kirk’s funeral is set to take place on September 21. President Donald Trump is expected to attend.
