Sign mourning Charlie Kirk vandalized with 2-word attack

Millions of Americans have been mourning the death of Charlie Kirk. President Donald Trump ordered flags to be put at half-mast, and signs have been erected nationwide to remember the conservative media pundit.

Sadly, not all of these signs have been left alone. On Facebook, the Walton County, GA Sheriff’s Office shared how one road sign had been vandalized with a two-word claim against Kirk.

The killing of Kirk sent shockwaves across the US. While millions mourned the murder, it has also led to even more political polarization, and questions about what free speech really means have been brought up by many on social media.

Still, while many might not argue with Charlie Kirk’s opinions, people have paid their respects. That said, there have been several incidents where individuals have expressed rather distasteful opinions about the conservative political influencer in public.

On Monday, it happened again, this time in Atlanta. The Tire Dock in Loganville, Walton County, Georgia, had put up a sign on Highway 78 which read “In loving memory of Charlie Kirk.” Sadly, the sign was defaced.

Speaking with Fox, Loganville Police Chief Dick Lowry said the vandalized sign was discovered early Monday. The sign often read “In Loving Memory,” and this particular time, it displayed a tribute to Charlie Kirk.

Police says someone spray-painted the words “Racist” and “SYBAU,” the second word being a short form for “Shut your b**ch *ss up,” per Fox.

On Facebook, the Walton County, GA Sheriff’s Office posted several pictures of the vandalism, urging the public for tips on who was responsible.

“Walton County Sheriffs Office takes pride in all things Walton County as evidenced by a deputy cleaning this sign,” the post read.

“Sheriff Brooks wants to make it perfectly clear. Not one law enforcement agency in Walton County will stand for this behavior. The Sheriff will use all resources to assist Loganville PD in identifying and arresting the individuals responsible for this conduct.”

The post concluded: “Not everyone agrees with the beliefs of Charlie Kirk but everyone owes respect to those who are mourning his death. He was a husband, a father and a friend. If you know who did this graffiti, the Sheriff would love to hear from you.”

When the damaged property was discovered, city leaders, deputies, and Loganville Police Department officers assisted in cleaning the sign and restoring the display. They are now praised by community members.

“Hate has no place in our community”
Authorities have announced that the vandalism is under investigation.

In a statement to Fox 5, Chief Lowry said, “Hate has no place in our community and we will do everything possible to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.”
