Elon Musk’s daughter sets the record straight after dad’s bizarre claim

Elon Musk’s estranged transgender daughter, Vivian Wilson, has cut ties with her billionaire father.

Now, she’s opening up about her life away from the spotlight.

Vivian Wilson, Elon Musk’s estranged transgender daughter, has made headlines for her candid take on life after cutting ties with the world’s richest dad. The 21-year-old has insisted she’s financially independent — and far from living the billionaire lifestyle people assume she’s inherited.

“People assume I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal,” Wilson told The Cut. “My mom is rich, right? But obviously the other one [Musk] … is unimaginable degrees of wealthy.”

Lives with 3 roommates
Rather than chasing wealth like her father, Wilson has embraced a more grounded lifestyle. She currently shares a home with three roommates because it’s “cheaper” and focuses on saving where she can.

“I don’t have a desire to be superrich,” she said. “I can afford food. I have friends, a shelter, and some expendable income, which is nice and much more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles.”

Despite being the eldest of Musk’s 14 children, she says her priorities are very different from the billionaire tech mogul. Wilson is now planning to enroll at a community college to continue studying languages after dropping out of her Japanese studies in Japan.

Made her feelings clear
Vivian Wilson’s estrangement from Musk became public in 2022, after she filed a petition to change her name and gender. In court documents, she made her feelings clear: “I no longer live or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”

The fallout has been highly public. Musk, who has campaigned for Donald Trump and other MAGA Republicans, once claimed Wilson had been killed by the “woke mind virus.” She quickly fired back on social media, reminding him she was very much alive.

Wilson has also been openly critical of Musk online, calling him a “pathetic man-child” for failing to accept her gender identity.

Attended elite schools
Vivian was born Xavier Alexander Musk and came out as a transgender woman in 2020. Her mother is Canadian author Justine Musk, Elon’s first wife.

Before cutting ties with her famous dad, Wilson attended elite schools, including a private school in Bel-Air and Ad Astra, the SpaceX-founded school her father created. Ad Astra was unconventional, with no grades and a focus on STEM classes. She later transferred to Crossroads in Santa Monica, where she graduated from a class she describes as full of “nepo babies.”

Reflecting on her teenage years, Wilson admitted, “I was not popular, I didn’t talk to anyone.”

She came out as transgender at 16, and after turning 18 in 2022, her relationship with Musk deteriorated further.

Despite her privileged upbringing, she has embraced a life independent of her father’s wealth. “I fought so hard for so long to be viewed as a regular person. There was a moment literally right before I became famous where no one knew who I was. It was amazing. Everyone treated me as a regular person. I kind of miss that. But I also like being famous,” she said.

Wants to be a model
Now, Wilson is pursuing modeling, has an agent, and recently landed a Teen Vogue cover. She has also performed in a drag show, proudly waving a transgender pride flag, signaling her embrace of identity and self-expression.

“I don’t have a desire to be super rich,” she reiterated. “I can afford food. I have friends, a shelter, and some expendable income, which is nice and much more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles.”
