Police reveal chilling detail as hunt for dad continues after three daughters found dead

The hunt continues for Travis Decker, the father accused of murdering and kidnapping his three daughters earlier this June.

Now, police have released chilling new details from the crime scene.

Zip-tied together
Three months ago, the United States was shaken by a horrific case that left the nation stunned — and asking how something so unthinkable could happen.

To this day, the questions remain, and the search for the man at the center of it all is still ongoing.

Authorities say 32-year-old Travis Decker is wanted on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping after his three young daughters — Olivia, 5, Evelyn, 8, and Paityn, 9 — were found dead in a scene too disturbing to comprehend. The girls’ wrists had been zip-tied together, and each had a plastic bag over her head.

The nightmare began on May 30, when Decker failed to return the children to their mother’s home in Wenatchee, Washington, as ordered by the court. A search was immediately launched, and just days later, on June 2, the bodies of the three sisters were discovered at Rock Island Campground in rural Leavenworth, about an hour from their home.

Their father — a U.S. Army veteran — was nowhere to be found. Early on, police feared that Decker might be using his survival skills to hide out in the remote wilderness of Washington state.

Nearly two months into the hunt for Travis Decker, authorities say they are scaling back their search due to a drop in leads. Earlier efforts around the wilderness and the crime scene were described as “exhaustive,” and a tip on August 1 reporting a sighting near Snoqualmie Pass came up empty, despite SWAT, K-9 units, and a helicopter being deployed. Officials stress that the investigation is ongoing and urge anyone in the area to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious.

On August 18, investigators unveiled new forensic evidence they say clearly proves who was responsible for the brutal murders of his three daughters.

According to a recently released forensic report, DNA profiles matching Decker were discovered on the plastic bags used to suffocate his daughters, as well as on the cable ties found at the scene. He remains the only suspect in the case.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office shared chilling new details in an update:
“Two of the victims each had two separate bags over their heads, and the third victim had three separate bags over their head. In addition, several cable ties were located on the ground in the immediate area of the bodies. These plastic bags and cable ties were collected that night by the Washington State Patrol Crime Response Team.”

Autopsies confirmed the cause of death for all three girls — Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 — as suffocation. Their deaths have been officially ruled homicides.

The statement continued:

”On August 6, 2025, the Washington State Crime Lab reported DNA profiles matching Travis Decker were found on the plastic bags that were covering each of his daughters’ heads. DNA profiles matching Paityn, Evelyn and Olivia Decker were also located on the plastic bags.

”No other DNA profiles were obtained from the plastic bags. One DNA profile was obtained from the cable ties collected at the scene. That DNA sample matched the profile for Travis Decker. No other DNA profiles were obtained from the cable ties.

”The completion of this DNA analysis provides additional evidence that indicates Travis Decker is the only suspect involved in committing these homicides.”

Authorities say Decker is still at large and is considered “armed and dangerous.”

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for any information leading to his arrest.

Officials added: ”Decker’s whereabouts remain unknown. At this time, we do not have any evidence to suggest Travis Decker is either alive or deceased.”
