Elon Musk breaks silence after Trump Epstein claim – expresses regret

Elon Musk has significantly backtracked on the explosive statements he made about President Donald Trump last week.

The Trump-Musk power dynamic was a major part of the narrative when the former won last year’s presidential election, and the apparent closeness of their relationship was further evidenced when Trump made Musk the de-facto head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

The brewing bromance linking two of the most powerful men in the world became the stuff of mass hysteria. Musk was seen numerous times in the White House – much to the chagrin of those taking umbrage at the fact that he held no elected position – while Trump spoke often and well of his affluent ally, even going as far as to support Tesla with a bizarre PR stunt/advert on the White House lawn when the company’s stocks were tanking.

All in all, the seamlessness with which Trump and Musk – two notoriously fickle figures in their own right – appeared to have slotted together seemed… well, too good to be true.

And so it was. At the end of May, Musk’s time within the Trump administration had come to its end, and what was to come next was a twist very few people could have predicted.

Mere days after taking his leave of the White House, Space X CEO Musk took aim at the POTUS in no uncertain terms, going so far as to linking him to the files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Venting criticism aimed at Trump’s “big, beautiful bill”, Musk labeled the move a ‘disgusting abomination’, claiming it would undo much of the supposed good work he had been able to achieve through DOGE.

Needless to say, Trump wasn’t happy with that assumption, but Musk’s next tirade didn’t so much as kick the hornet’s nest as pick it up and throw it off a cliff.

“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,” the tech mogul – and world’s richest man – alleged on social media. “That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”

Musk doubled down in a follow-up tweet, writing: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

Musk produced no evidence to back up his claims, and it would appear he has now buckled under the weight of responsibility as pertains to standing fast behind them. The Tesla founder first deleted both of the tweets, before conceding today (on his social media platform, X) that he had gone too far.

“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” he posted today (June 11).

Trump, meanwhile, stated his belief that any relationship between he and Elon is effectively over.

“I would assume so, yeah,” he replied to that notion. “I’m too busy doing other things.

“You know, I won an election in a landslide. I gave him [Musk] a lot of breaks, long before this happened, I gave him breaks in my first administration, and saved his life in my first administration, I have no intention of speaking to him.”
