The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to Hilton’s Florida home after receiving reports that he was allegedly “livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.”

The department later confirmed to Rolling Stone that Hilton was safely taken into custody and transported to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical care.

Police say deputies prioritized de-escalation
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said deputies followed crisis intervention protocols when responding to the incident.

“In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritise de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the sheriff’s office said.

“Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public.”

Authorities also confirmed that support was being provided to Hilton’s family.

The sheriff’s office confirmed to Rolling Stone that the individual involved was Hilton and said he was “safely recovered” before being transported to a local hospital.

Representatives say they could not reach Hilton
Hilton’s representatives, Golden Artists Entertainment, also released a statement after the incident.

The company said it was “aware of the concerning content circulating online regarding” its client.

Representatives added that they had been unable to contact Hilton “despite ongoing efforts to reach him.”

“Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family,” the statement continued.

Hilton’s TikTok account also appeared to have been removed from the platform following the incident.

Hilton previously revealed he was hospitalized with sepsis
Hilton rose to prominence in the early 2000s after launching his celebrity gossip website, which later became PerezHilton.com.

He has since appeared on several television programs, including Celebrity Big Brother, and hosted his own series, Perez Hilton Superfan.

Earlier this year, Hilton revealed that he spent three weeks in hospital after developing what he described as a “severe case of sepsis.”

The blogger said he had been prescribed medication after contracting the flu but took it for a week without food.

According to Hilton, that led to a stomach ulcer, which caused severe pain.

He later said the ulcer perforated, allowing bacteria to enter his bloodstream.

“My stupidity landed me in the hospital for 21 days… It was the worst and best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he said.

“Because I have been taking all of this medication without food for a week, I developed an ulcer then a perforation and then sepsis. People die of sepsis.”
