Donald Trump’s World Cup Trophy handover contradicts claim made by his doctor

Ask any Donald Trump detractor and it’s highly likely they’ll have a long list of certain untruths and false claims the president has made over the years.

Perhaps one of least serious is the fact that Trump has repeatedly claimed to stand six feet, three inches tall. At first glance there’s no reason to be overly sceptical; members of Trump’s family are, by and large, all tall. One of his son’s, Eric, is six-foot-five; his youngest son, Barron, is a veritable giant at six-foot-nine.

Yet time and again of late has President Trump appeared beside other notable figures officially registered as being six feet, three inches tall (Prince William included), and appeared noticeably shorter.

So it was again yesterday when Trump was on hand in New Jersey to present the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the sport’s most iconic trophy.

Spain emerged 1-0 victors over Argentina after extra-time, securing the country’s second ever World Cup title and officially elevating themselves to the best international football team on the planet.

President Donald Trump, along with several high-ranking FIFA officials, descended onto the pitch following the full-time whistle to present Spain and Argentina their respective winners and runners-up medals.

It should go without saying that Trump’s every move was carefully watched by the millions of people viewing across the globe, so it’s no real surprise that a good many of them failed to miss another height disparity between the president and an individual listed as being exactly as tall as him.

The individual in question was Spain captain Rodri, who had the honour of lifting the World Cup Trophy.

A clip shared on X by the White House’s own Rapid Response depicted Trump shaking hands with the midfielder during the post-match presentation.

The pair are both officially listed being six foot, three inches tall, yet Rodri appeared taller than the president by some margin.

Trump’s height was recorded only last year during his most recent medical examination by White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella. If we’re to believe Dr. Barbabella knows how to correctly record such information, however, it begs the question: how can Trump and Rodri be the same height and yet not at all the same height?

It was a matter people began to speculate over online.

“Yet again, the president’s official height doesn’t add up,” wrote the Daily Beast on X.

“Rodri is 6’3. How tall is President Trump again???” another person wrote.

A third said: “Seeing Rodri, 6ft 3, towering above Trump – also somehow listed as being 6ft 3 – always entertains. A hilariously insecure man.”

And the fluid nature of Trump’s height wasn’t the only thing people were left talking about. Trump’s decision to linger close to the Spain team as they prepared to lift the World Cup Trophy also came under scrutiny.

Having handed the trophy to Spain captain Rodri, the POTUS could be seen hovering at the side of the stage, eventually having to be subtly steered away by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
