Joe Biden takes brutal swipe at Trump over Reflecting Pool repairs after he threatened vandals with 10 years in prison

Former President Joe Biden has stayed out of the spotlight since leaving the White House. However, on Saturday, he lashed out against Donald Trump, calling him a “loser.”

Former President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump aren’t exactly the best of friends. Trump, who calls him “Sleepy Joe” or “Crooked Joe Biden,” has lashed out against the former president several times, and even replaced his portrait with a picture of the so-called autopen at the White House.

Biden has been living a quiet life since leaving the White House in 2025. But on Saturday, he broke his silence on Donald Trump.

He called the former real estate mogul a “loser” after criticizing his successor’s attempts to remake Washington, D.C landmarks.

Speaking at a Democratic Party gala, Joe Biden brought up the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and accused Trump of corruption “on a scale never seen before in American history,”

The former president said that Trump had gone as far as “hiring his own pool guy to fix the reflecting pool,” before adding: “Whoa, what a loser,” according to Forbes.

The major renovation of the Reflecting Pool reportedly cost more than $14 million. The National Mall landmark was drained, resurfaced, and its bottom painted in what was described as “American flag blue.”

But the makeover reportedly ran into problems soon after it was completed. Less than a month later, the paint began to peel, and algae turned the water green.

Trump later blamed vandalism for the issues, claiming the site had been deliberately damaged. He alleged that chemicals had been poured into the water. However, the president has not provided evidence to support those allegations.

He also warned that anyone caught vandalizing the pool or similar public monuments could face up to ten years in prison, writing on Truth Social that such punishment would be “fully enforced.” At the time, he did not provide evidence to support the claims of vandalism.

“350-foot-slit”
Last week, Trump told reporters that someone had sliced a “350-foot slit” in the pool’s lining with what he described as “a box cutter or some kind of knife.” Previously, he said it was only 250 feet and even threatened with long prison sentences.

Joe Biden, 83, was diagnosed with late-stage prostate cancer last year. The former U.S. president did not comment on his health during his appearance on stage on Saturday night, where his keynote speech lasted around 10 minutes.
