Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson tied the knot over the weekend, but while the wedding itself attracted attention, it was the notable absence of multiple family members that quickly became the biggest talking point.

Over the weekend, Donald Trump Jr. got married for the second time following his 2018 divorce from Vanessa Trump. This time, he headed to a small island in the Bahamas to wed Bettina Anderson, according to CNN.

The couple exchanged vows during an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family members. However, several members of the Trump family were notably absent.

President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and Barron Trump did not attend the wedding.

“Multiple absences start creating a public pattern”
According to PR specialist Michael Fahey, Melania’s absence has raised some questions because it wasn’t the first major event involving Anderson that she has missed.

“The Melania factor adds another layer because this wasn’t an isolated absence…she was also absent from Bettina Anderson’s bridal shower earlier this year,” Fahey told RadarOnline, according to AOL.

He added: “One absence is easy to explain away. Multiple absences start creating a public pattern, and patterns are where media narratives are born.”

Fahey also suggested that the absence of multiple Trump family members at the same event naturally raises eyebrows.

“Whether intentional or not, coordinated absences send a message, and in the Trump universe, people are trained to look for symbolism in everything,” he said.

He continued: “What makes this especially interesting is that it wasn’t just Donald Trump missing. When you also have Melania and Barron absent, while other members of the family are visibly present and celebrating publicly, it naturally creates intrigue.”
