Erika Kirk breaks silence after canceling high-profile event with JD Vance due to “very serious threats”

Erika Kirk was set to appear with Vice President JD Vance at the University of Georgia on Tuesday. However, she decided to cancel after receiving “some very serious threats.” Now, she has spoken out

Erika Kirk’s husband, political activist Charlie Kirk, was killed during an event at Utah Valley College in Orem, Utah, in September last year. Shortly after his tragic death, she took over as the CEO of Turning Point USA and has made many appearances since.

As late as Tuesday, April 15, she was scheduled to appear at a Turning Point event at the University of Georgia with Vice President JD Vance.

JD Vance and Erika Kirk have appeared onstage together. For example, on October 29, during a Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi, the two shared a hug, which went viral.

“No one will ever replace my husband,” Erika Kirk told the audience as she introduced Vance. “But I do see some similarities between my husband and JD— in Vice President JD Vance. I do. And that’s why I am so blessed to be able to introduce him tonight.”

Yesterday, as mentioned, Kirk and JD Vance were set to share the stage again. However, before it happened, the widow of Charlie Kirk canceled her appearance. Per Fox News, Erika Kirk was “worried” about “some threats”.

Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet said that Erika Kirk had received “some very serious threats in her direction.” Moreover, Vance reportedly said he was concerned the whole event would be canceled and spoke with the Secret Service about it.

“I know that she did get some threats, and about two hours ago I was a little worried we were going to have to cancel the event because Erika was not going to come,” the vice president said during the appearance to students at the University of Georgia, per WSB-TV. “She was very worried about it.”

Later, Erika Kirk took to social media to share her view.

“I was so looking forward to tonight’s event at the University of Georgia with our Vice President, but after all our family has been through, I take my security team’s recommendations extremely seriously,” Erika Kirk wrote. “Thank you to our amazing Georgia chapter for your support. God bless you all!”
