US Congressman shares chilling warning about alien life

A U.S. congressman has delivered a chilling warning about an alleged government cover-up involving extraterrestrial life, claiming the country could come “unglued” if the full truth were revealed.

Since joining Congress, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) has been among the most vocal lawmakers on Capitol Hill advocating for greater scrutiny of unidentified flying objects (UFOs), also referred to as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).

The Republican congressman has repeatedly argued that reports from military personnel and government agencies deserve serious review, particularly as technology has made it easier to document unexplained activity in the skies.

In 2023, Burchett reportedly headed an effort to start a UAP caucus in the House, working with lawmakers from both parties who have pushed for greater transparency from military officials about what has been observed and recorded.

‘There’s a cover-up’
Following classified briefings in 2024, Burchett intensified his concerns about what he believes may be hidden from public view. He pointed to the amount of taxpayer funding directed toward investigating unexplained aerial activity as evidence that officials consider the subject significant.

“I think there’s a cover-up,” Burchett said at the time, according to The Hill. “There are tens of millions of dollars that we’ve spent investigating these things. We’ve had departments tell us that they have recovery units, but they won’t release full reports. Everything’s covered up,” Burchett added.

Trump orders release of alien files
President Donald Trump later vowed to instruct the Pentagon and other federal agencies to release government files related to UFOs and potential extraterrestrial life.

“Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs)…” the POTUS wrote in a Feb. 19, 2026, social media post.

‘They’re real’
Trump’s pledge came shortly after former President Barack Obama spoke on Brian Tyler Cowen’s podcast, where he acknowledged that unidentified aerial phenomena have been recorded by military technology while emphasizing there is no confirmed evidence of alien contact.

“They’re real, but I haven’t seen them, and they’re not being kept in…Area 51,” Obama said in the interview.

Nevada’s Area 51 has long been the subject of speculation involving alien bodies and crashed spacecraft, though declassified CIA archives released in 2013 confirmed the site was primarily used to test top-secret reconnaissance aircraft during the Cold War.

“There’s no underground facility, unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States,” Obama added.

Obama offers clarity
After the interview gained widespread attention, Obama clarified his remarks in a Feb. 15 Instagram post, stressing that while the size of the universe leaves open the possibility of life beyond Earth, he did not encounter evidence of extraterrestrial contact during his presidency.

“I was trying to stick with the spirit of the speed round, but since it’s gotten attention let me clarify. Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there,” Obama explained. “But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we’ve been visited by aliens is low, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!”

Burchett’s dramatic warning
Meanwhile, Burchett insists there’s a government cover-up.

During an April 1, 2026, appearance on Newsmax, Burchett referenced briefings he says he has received from multiple government agencies connected to extraterrestrial life and unexplained phenomena.

While declining to reveal specific details, he indicated the information left a strong impression.

“I’ve been briefed by just about every alphabet agency there is. And, I’ll just say this, if they would release the things that I’ve seen, you would stay up. You’d be up at night worrying about – or thinking about this stuff,” Burchett told Rob Finnerty.

Country would come ‘unglued’
He also described a recent classified discussion he suggested could provoke significant public reaction if disclosed.

“It would have set the earth on” fire, he started, adding that “this this country would have come unglued.”

“I think if they would have heard all that I heard, they would demand answers. Unfortunately, it just keeps getting covered up and covered up,” he said in the interview.

Burchett further alleged that secrecy has persisted for years, referencing reports discussed during the Newsmax segment about “the people that know are dying or disappearing.”

“For the record, I’m not suicidal,” he added.

Alien websites
Recent developments have added another layer of intrigue. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency registered the domains aliens.gov and alien.gov, though neither site is currently active.

When asked about the purpose of the domains, a White House spokesperson told People, “Stay tuned!”
