Melania Trump’s decision to publicly address her connections to Jeffrey Epstein has sparked widespread speculation about the timing and motivation behind her statement.

In a rare and striking move, the First Lady firmly rejected long-circulating claims linking her to the convicted sex offender.

“I am not Epstein’s victim. Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump,” she declared in her statement.

Melania’s senior adviser, Marc Beckman, said she felt compelled to speak out after months of frustration over ongoing speculation.

“First Lady Melania Trump spoke out now because enough is enough,” he told The New York Post. “The lies must stop. It is time for the public and media to focus on her incredible achievements as First Lady, the lives she has positively impacted, and her commitment to our nation.”

The statement immediately reignited questions about why she chose this moment to respond, especially after remaining silent on the issue for months.

According to the White House, Melania’s attention to the controversy stems from what her team describes as repeated misinformation and growing public scrutiny.

“The lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today. The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility and respect. I do not object to their ignorance, but rather I reject their mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation,” Melania said.

“My attorneys and I have fought these unfounded and baseless lies with success,” she added.

Melania also addressed her past connections, saying she first met Epstein in 2000 and stressing that any interaction was limited to social settings.

“I have never been friends with Epstein,” she said, adding: “I am not Epstein’s victim,” while denying any knowledge of his criminal activity.

She further insisted she never traveled on his plane, never visited his private island, and has not been implicated in any legal proceedings tied to him.

The controversy resurfaced after an email exchange linked to Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell reappeared in the Epstein files, fueling renewed speculation.

Melania Trump addressed the issue by referring to a 2002 email exchange with Maxwell, describing it as “casual correspondence” and a “polite reply.”

The email in question is believed to have been addressed to “G” — understood to be Ghislaine Maxwell — and reportedly commented on a New York Magazine story featuring “JE” alongside a photo of G. In the message, she also wrote that she “cannot wait” to visit Palm Beach.

“Give me a call when you are back in NY,” the email reads.

Raised eyebrows
The same New York Magazine article also included comments from now-President Donald Trump, who described Epstein as a “terrific guy” and said “he’s a lot of fun to be with.”

The timing of her statement has also raised eyebrows inside Washington circles.

“This was an extraordinary statement from a first lady that we rarely see have this kind of public statement,” said White House correspondent Liz Landers, noting the unusual nature of the briefing.

She added that despite public curiosity, no evidence has been presented accusing Melania of wrongdoing.

“Melania Trump has never been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell,” she said.

Jeffrey Epstein took his own life in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019.

Donald Trump has also denied any wrongdoing in connection with Jeffrey Epstein and has said he ended his association with him in the early 2000s, before Epstein’s criminal activities became public. There is no evidence suggesting any wrongdoing by either of the Trumps.

However, the president has faced broader scrutiny — alongside other high-profile figures — over questions about what they knew regarding Epstein, who maintained a wide network of powerful connections and influence.

Melania Trump had not previously spoken publicly about the Epstein controversy until Thursday. In the past, she has successfully challenged and obtained retractions or apologies from outlets including HarperCollins Publishers, Democratic strategist James Carville, and The Daily Beast over claims linking her to Epstein.
