Rob Reiner and his wife Michele’s son, Nick, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder of his parents. On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Police Department shared new chilling details on the horrific murders of the legendary director and his wife.

Rob and Michele Reiner were found murdered in their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, on Sunday. Their son, Nick Reiner, was later apprehended by police on suspicion of murder. Rob and Michele reportedly died from stab wounds.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” a spokesperson for the Reiner family later shared in a statement. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

Nick was found close to USC in South Los Angeles at around 9:15 p.m. The arrest was made “without incident.”

On Tuesday, L.A. County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced that the 32-year-old is accused of killing his parents “approximately the early morning hours” of December. 14.

“Today, I’m here to announce that our office will be filing charges against Nick Reiner, who is accused of killing his parents, actor-director Rob Reiner and photographer-producer Michel Singer Reiner,” Hochman said.

“These charges will be two counts of first degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders. He also faces a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, that being a knife.”

He continued, “In approximately the early morning hours of December 14, Reiner is accused of fatally stabbing Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70, at their home in the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue in Brentwood. Nick Reiner fled but was arrested hours later that evening in Exposition Park.”

“[Nick Reiner] has officially been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. If found guilty, he will face life in prison without parole or the death penalty,” Hochman concluded, adding that the 32-year-old son of Rob Reiner and Michele is undergoing medical clearance.

On Tuesday, Assistant police chief Doninic Choi also gave chilling news about Rob and Michelle’s murder. Per the Los Angeles Times, the couple was found dead in their bedroom.

Rob and Michele allegedly had their throats cut. A source told the Daily Mail that they could’ve been asleep when the murders occurred.

“He could have done it not long after they all went home, meaning he went there and slit their throats in the middle of the night,” they said. “They were in bed when that happened.”
