Donald and Melania Trump are back in Washington after celebrating Thanksgiving in Florida. The president made many headlines over the long weekend, while Melania stayed out of the spotlight.

However, upon returning to the White House lawn, cameras caught the two leaving Marine One. Now, social media is mocking the first lady for what she was wearing.

Thanksgiving is over for this year. Donald and Melania Trump, alongside their son Barron, celebrated at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. The president had plenty of work to do and made news for both this and that, while Melania Trump stayed out of the spotlight and spent time with her son.

Still, as the holiday ended, Melania had made headlines, at least on social media. On Sunday night, the President and First Lady of the United States returned to DC, landing with Marine One on the White House lawn.

But as they left the helicopter, and Air Force One, a little earlier for that matter, social media users on X noticed something strange. It was dark outside, but Melania Trump was wearing sunglasses.

“Melania would probably do a better job navigating those stairs in stilettos if she wasn’t wearing dark glasses at night. What’s with that? Does she think she’s Anna Wintour?” one user commented.

Another user said, “If she can’t wear her sunglasses, she’s hiding behind a big brimmed hat. She doesn’t want anybody looking at her and she doesn’t wanna look at anybody.”

Others continued pushing the bizarre conspiracy theory that, in fact, it wasn’t Melania Trump returning to DC with Donald, but a body double.

“Why would the real Melania be wearing sunglasses after dark????” one asked.

Another user commented, “Sunglasses at night, that’s the doppelgänger not the real version Melania.”

A third user joked, “Where is Melania channeling Cory Hart? Normal people don’t wear sunglasses at night,” referring to Canadian singer Cory Hart’s hit song Sunglasses at Night.

While many questioned Melania Trump’s choice to wear sunglasses – or even whether it was her – others praised the first lady.

“I wonder if maybe she doesn’t have eye makeup on and doesn’t want to be seen? I know if I think I will fall asleep during a trip I don’t wear eye makeup so it doesn’t get messed up while I am sleeping. (By the way I am a liberal!),” a user stated.

“Melania Trump should have a fashion book big enough for your coffee table. Don’t get me started on her coat her jacket and her sunglasses. Lady is pure class,” another said.

Christmas is upon us, and last week, Melania Trump welcomed the annual White House Christmas tree to the grounds of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. However, she has not always loved the Christmas preparations at the White House.

In 2020, a leaked audio recording by Melania’s former friend and senior adviser, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, reached CNN.

The recording was from the summer of 2018, where Melania complained about having to perform the Christmas duties of the First Lady while at the same time being criticized for her husband’s then-policy of separating families who illegally crossed the southern border.

“They say I’m complicit. I’m the same like him, I support him. I don’t say enough I don’t do enough where I am,” Melania said. “I’m working … my a** off on the Christmas stuff, that you know, who gives a f*** about the Christmas stuff and decorations? But I need to do it, right?”

She continued, “OK, and then I do it and I say that I’m working on Christmas and planning for the Christmas and they said, ‘Oh, what about the children that they were separated?’ Give me a f****** break. Where they were saying anything when Obama did that? I can not go, I was trying get the kid reunited with the mom. I didn’t have a chance – needs to go through the process and through the law.”
