Robert Irwin shares exciting life update after ‘Dancing with the Stars’ win

Robert Irwin is the winner of the 34th season of Dancing with the Stars. “The Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin’s son battled some issues before the final, but made it through with pro dance partner Witney Carson. Shortly after the win, Irwin shares an exciting update on what is to come.

On Tuesday, Robert Irwin and partner Witney Carson won the season 34 finale of Dancing with the Stars. However, the road to victory has not been a walk in the park.

A day before the final. Witney Crason shared that Robert Irwin had suffered from pain in his ribs.

After “11 weeks of crazy, vigorous, hard dancing, my body is feeling it,” she said in a video on TikTok. “Robert’s body is feeling it. We’re, like, kind of falling apart right now. Just trying to keep it together for, like, two more days. Literally today and tomorrow, and then it’s over.”

Despite having injury issues, the couple came through and won. Robert Irwin, the son of legendary wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin, has had his father by his side throughout the competition in a special way.

On Monday, November 17, he shared a heartfelt clip on Instagram, revealing that after he wore his father’s shirt ahead of his Dancing with the Stars debut, he has done so at every rehearsal since.

“Every show day on Dancing with the Stars, I have two good luck charms that I bring with me. And I wanted to share it with you,” Robert said, adding that the two rituals are a way to keep him “close to home and what’s most important to me.”

One “good luck charm” was a ring representing his childhood home. The other was his late dad’s shirt. Steve Irwin died in 2006, at the age of 44. At the time, Robert was just 2 years old.

“This is my dad’s shirt. I was going through his stuff and I found this shirt. It’s absolutely tattered and had holes and all sorts in it, missing buttons. So I went and got it all fixed up. New buttons attached. Everything all patched back up again and all the holes repaired. Kind of got it back up to scratch. And I like that it still looks and feels like him,” Robert said.

He added, “Each one of the tears and holes and missing buttons tells another story. And this shirt definitely saw a lot. I guess it’s a good example for how dad lived his life: At 100%.”

Shortly after taking home Dancing With the Stars, Robert Irwin shared some exciting news about what is to come. He isn’t ready to hang up his dancing shoes … but will be one of the celebrities who are joining the pro dancers of DWTS on tour this winter and spring.

Irwin, together with Witney Carson, will be part of the show performing in Sacramento, San Diego, Costa Mesa, Las Vegas, Hollywood, and Phoenix. The tour begins in January 2026 and runs through May.

“Dancing with the Stars has been captivating fans for two decades, and the passion for the show has never been stronger. Last year, the tour sold out in every city for the first time in franchise history, so we extended the run — and sold those shows out as well. More than anything, it’s incredible to see the fandom and energy on the road,” Ryan O’Dowd, DWTS executive producer, said in a press release, per People Magazine.”
