Rumors about Tom Cruise and actress Ana de Armas dating began in February this year. They were seen together more often, sometimes holding hands, and it was clear they had something going on. However, reports now suggest that Ana de Armas has dumped the Top Gun and Mission: Impossible star. The reason why is just sad.

Tom Cruise’s dating life has always been of interest to the Hollywood media. He’s been married three times: With Mimi Rogers between 1987 and 1990, with Nicole Kidman between 1990 and 2001, and most recently, with Katie Holmes between 2006 and 2012.

Sadly, some of his marriages ended in catastrophe. For example, reports at the time suggested that Kidman left after refusing to convert their children, Conor and Isabella, to Scientology.

Tom Cruise went on to have a daughter, Suri, with Katie Holmes, with whom he split in 2012, and, sadly, the father is now estranged from both of them.

Recently, Tom Cruise has been involved in another relationship. Per several news outlets at the time, the Mission Impossible star began dating actress Ana de Armas in February earlier this year, and at the time, it appeared as if things went amazingly.

The couple were seen out several times to dinners, and even attended David Beckham’s 50th birthday party together. Rumors about them dating began spreading, and they were even seen holding hands.

Meanwhile, in May, the Ballerina star De Armas told Good Morning America in May that it was “so much fun” working with Tom Cruise. However, she didn’t say they had romantic feelings for each other.

“It’s so much fun [doing action projects]. We’re definitely working on a lot of things. Not just one, but a few projects with [directors] Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie and, of course, Tom. And I’m so excited,” De Armas said.

Us Weekly reported on the same day that Cruise was “super smitten by her.

“They’ve gone out on some dates, and it’s very low-key,” the source said. “It’s in the early stages, and he’s been courting her. [He is] really into her.”

In mid-July, Hello! Magazine published photos of the two vacationing on a boat together in Menorca, Spain. In August, it was reported their “connection grew stronger.

“Over time, it became clear that what they have goes beyond just friendship or a working relationship,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “Tom thinks she’s incredibly smart and beautiful. Ana has always enjoyed their time together and the flirty attraction between them.”

Sadly, it appeared as if their romance had ended before it had barely begun. In mid-October, People Magazine reported that they were just friends and never an official couple. Still, Us Weekly claimed they had a romantic connection.

“Tom and Ana are done for now,” a source told the outlet. “It was more Ana’s decision because things were moving fast, and she started to get a little uncomfortable with how fast it was going.”

The insider stated Ana de Armas “put the brakes on it,” though “she still likes him a lot. Also, that they have a connection and “will see how things go in the future.”

But there might be another reason for the split. According to Rob Shuter’s ShuterScoop, it’s claimed that while Cruise “adored” de Armas, he “acted like a director, not a boyfriend.”

The source said, “Every dinner, every outfit, every weekend plan — he had notes. It was exhausting.”

“He’s high-octane in everything,” they said. “Ana wanted a partner. Tom wanted a production.”
