Stephen King has vicious response to criticism of Zohran Mamdani becoming NYC mayor

Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral win in New York City has left many happy – but also many furious. The 34-year-old is facing criticism online, as well as racial abuse. Now, Stephen King has responded to the criticism the newly elected mayor has received—and hits back.

Zohran Mamdani won the mayoral election in New York City after receiving 50,4% of the votes. He beat Andrew Cuomo to become the city’s first Muslim mayor.

But sadly, Mamdani’s religious beliefs and background became the main focus, as they didn’t support him, and he was smeared throughout the campaign. The hatred has continued after the election, and now author Stephen King has come to his support.

Both members of the public and conservative officials have spread what could be considered as racist rhetoric, especially comparing his appointment to being dangerous following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Racist comments have been all over social media in the last weeks. Now, author Stephen King has had enough.

One user on X shared an image of the Twin Towers following the terrorist attack on 9/11, adding a caption that was meant to connect the unimaginable tragedy to Mamdani and his faith.

“How the hell does the city that experienced the biggest Islamic terrorist attack in history vote for a Muslim mayor?” the caption read.

Stephen King has vicious message to Zohran Mamdani criticism
Stephen King reposted the post on his own X page, pointing out what everyone should know.

“Um, he didn’t do it. He was 10 at the time,” Stephen King wrote.

People in the comments section condemned the 9/11 post, calling it “sickening.”

“And the Oklahoma City bomber was a supposed devout Christian, and people continue to elect Christian…one statement as stupid as the other,” one wrote.

A second wrote: “It’s like saying how can a black person be friends with a white person cause their ancestors were racists, totally makes no sense,” while a third added, “I couldn’t care less that he’s Muslim —and true, he had nothing to do with it! Let’s see what he does as Mayor.”

A fourth person commented, “People vote on his record and policies, not on bigoted generalizations.”

That there has been a lot of smearing against Zohran Mamdani has not gone unnoticed by him. In his victory speech. Tuesday, he said, “I am Muslim. I am a Democratic Socialist, and most damning of all, I refuse to apologize for any of this. And yet, if tonight teaches us anything, it is that convention has held us back.

Mamdani’s response in victory speech
Mamdani added, “We have bowed at the altar of caution and we have paid a mighty price. Too many working people cannot recognize themselves in our party.”

“Too many among us have turned to the right for answers for why they have been left behind. We will leave mediocrity in our past; no longer will we have to open a history book for proof that Democrats can dare to be great.”
