King Charles was ‘clearly uneasy’ after what Trump did during state visit

Donald Trump has been in the UK since late Tuesday on a state visit. The President of the United States has spent time with the Royal Family, which has included a military procession and a state banquet with King Charles and Queen Camilla.

However, for the king, it wasn’t all perfect. A body language expert now claims the monarch was ‘clearly uneasy’ after Donald Trump did this one thing.

Donald Trump’s second state visit to the UK is quite different. Firstly, there is a new monarch on the throne, as the President of the United States and First Lady Melania Trump now bowed to King Charles, and not the late Queen Elizabeth.

Trump arrived in the UK late Tuesday, spending the night at Windsor Castle, before being greeted by Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, on Wednesday. Trump has held private meetings with King Charles, who officially invited the president to visit with a letter back in July.

The ceremony welcoming Trump, described as a crucial diplomatic and political event, also featured a military procession, a Red Arrows flyover, and a state banquet. When Donald Trump performed his first state visit in June 2019, one incident became somewhat symbolic.

As he stepped out to review the troops, he walked in front of Queen Elizabeth. It was reported that Trump broke royal protocol by doing so. When Donald stepped out with King Charles on Wednesday, preparing to examine the troops, it happened again. And according to one body language expert, King Charles was uneasy about the situation.

King Charles was ‘uneasy’ with Trump during troop inspection, body language expert says
Speaking on behalf of OLBG, body language expert Inbaal Honigman stated that King Charles was tense over some of Donald Trump’s behavior. As King Charles gestured in front to show that Donald Trump was supposed to stand still. But the president began walking instead.

Meanwhile, Honigman also says Trump most likely misinterpreted the gesture as King Charles was ‘left behind,’ walking behind Trump, who didn’t wait for the monarch to catch up.

“As Charles walks up behind him, he is seen with a half-smile on his face, revealing that he is bemused,” the body language expert said. “The Monarch smooths his tie down, which can signify nervousness. He’s not sure what to do now. He’s faced with two options – to correct Trump and potentially embarrass him, or to go along with what is potentially a break in protocol.”

Honigman continued by claiming that Trump was ‘oblivious’ to what had happened, suggesting that he believed he was doing everything right.

“The King’s hands are a little tense, and he’s really not sure how to resolve the situation. At one point, he attempts a remedy – walking up to stand between Trump and the Guard, but then the president moves, obliviously blocking the King out yet again,” he continued, adding that Charles was ‘uneasy’ as he wandered his body back and forth from side to side.

“He makes it appear as if this was the plan all along”
Eventually, King Charles sorted the situation by laying a hand on the president’s back.

“That way, he makes it appear as if this was the plan all along,” body language expert Inbaal Honigman concluded. “At the end of their stroll, Charles places a friendly hand on Trump’s back once or twice more, putting him at his ease. As they march back towards their seats, the King walks ahead again.”
