Trump shows off ‘wrinkled hands’ amid latest health fear

Donald Trump became the oldest person in US history to be inaugurated as president earlier this year.

The former real estate mogul turned 79 just a couple of weeks ago, and though some have pointed to his age as a potential problem, Trump himself has staunchly argued that he remains in good shape.

That said, there are some things that can’t be hidden. Not long ago, one of Trump’s hands appeared to be ‘wrinkled.’ According to experts, it can be a telling sign.

Donald Trump is not getting younger, but he’s doing well physically despite his 79 years, at least according to his people. In April, White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella published a report that claimed Trump is fully fit to be Commander-in-Chief.

The report documented Trump’s height and weight, as well as scans of his eyes, ears, neck, throat, and heart that showed no abnormalities. Barbabella also shared that the president underwent a colonoscopy in 2024.

During that doctor’s visit, it was also revealed that Trump had a benign polyp and diverticulitis, an inflammation in the pockets of the colon. It was then decided that he would undergo a follow-up colonoscopy in three years.

Trump’s medical report also revealed that he was taking medication, including prescriptions for cholesterol, a cardiac prevention medicine, and a cream to use as needed for a “skin condition.”

Donald Trump’s mysterious hand bruises
Moreover, Barbabella noted that Trump had bilateral cataract surgery at some point, adding that the president is in “robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function,” concluding that he has an “active lifestyle is helping his well-being.”

“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Health of State,” Barbabella said in April.

While the medical report states that Trump is fully fit to hold the office of President of the United States, it does not change the fact that he is getting older. Incidentally, the current president has been seen with bruises on his hands at several points in the past year.

Last spring was the first time the mark on Trump’s dominant hand was noticed, when he appeared in court for his hush money trial against Stormy Daniels. The president has been pictured with bruises on his hand on several occasions since then, such as in February when he met with French President Emmanuel Macron.

According to the White House, the bruising and wrinkles have nothing to do with Trump’s health.

In a statement, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt attempted to claim that the bruising is simply the result of a lot of handshaking.

“President Trump is a man of the people and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other president in history,” Ms Leavitt said. “His commitment is unwavering and he proves that every single day.”

In a follow-up statement, Leavitt said: “President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day.” In his Time Magazine interview for the 2024 Person of the Year issue, Trump himself stated that the bruising came from “shaking hands with thousands of people.”

While that may be the case, Trump’s ‘wrinkled hands’ have once again become the center of attention. Before he and his wife, Melania, attended the Kennedy Center premiere of Les Misérables in mid-June, social media users noticed the bruising once again.

“His hand really shows his age,” one person wrote on X, per Irish Star, while a second added, “I notice the bruising on his hand.”

So, is it possible that Trump’s bruising is something other than a result of thousands of handshakes? Per Economic Times, Dr. Ola Otulana, a general practitioner and doctor at the Cassiobury Court rehabilitation facility in Watford, England, stated that the bruise on the president’s right hand seems “consistent with a superficial contusion. He added that it could have resulted from “minor trauma” like bumping into something, or perhaps even from blood draw.

Dr Outalana added that “this could happen from something as commonplace as bumping the hand against a hard surface, repeated pressure like leaning on a cane or gripping something firmly, or even medical procedures like venepuncture or blood draw,” and continued by explaining that because of the “thinning skin” and “more fragile blood vessels” on older adults make bruising “more prominent.”

“Doesn’t raise any immediate red flags”
Moreover, the doctor added that drugs such as blood thinners, aspirin, and other anti-inflammatory drugs could “make bruises appear more easily and linger longer, which could be the case here.”

However, Dr. Outalana concluded that the bruise on Trump’s hand “doesn’t raise any immediate red flags.”

The wrinkles and bruises have not been the only health fear surrounding Donald Trump in recent days. On June 9, an image of the POTUS attending an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event went viral online, and several posts on X, Facebook, and TikTok questioned whether the president was wearing a catheter under his suit.

The picture shows fighter Kayla Harrison, who had just won the UFC women’s bantamweight championship, putting her belt around Trump’s waist.

One post stated: “Trump appears to wearing leg braces and possibly a catheter. The weakness on his right side has been pretty evident for a number of years. And the bruising on his right hand might be caused from his receiving infusion therapy of some sort. Common with a Parkinson’s type disease.”

Is Trump wearing a catheter?
Another said: “Trump is absolutely wearing a Foley catheter. It’s a tube inserted into the bladder to drain urine into a bag strapped to the leg. That line down his pants? Not a crease. It’s tubing. Every step he takes sounds like the sloshing of a warm Capri Sun.”

The post went viral. Some defended Trump, stating that it wasn’t a catheter at all.

“No it isn’t. That pant leg is close fitting and that perfectly straight line is a crease. Foley catheters are absolutely not standard of care except post procedure. A walkie talkie patient gets self-cath or male pads,” one post read.
