Trump issues stern warning after Israel and Iran violate ceasefire

Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Israel not to drop further bombs on Iran after reports that both countries had violated the ceasefire agreement he brokered.

Only this morning was it announced – chiefly by Trump, no less – that Israel and Iran had reached a peace deal to bring a swift end to their “12-day war”. Shortly afterwards, however, new reports emerged suggesting that Iran had immediately violated the agreement by launching new missiles.

Iran denied it had fired said missiles at Israel in the “last few hours”, but Israeli defense minister Israel Katz revealed he has ordered the country’s military to respond forcefully.

“In light of Iran’s blatant violation of the ceasefire declared by the President of the United States – through the launch of missiles toward Israel – and in accordance with the Israeli government’s policy to respond forcefully to any breach, I have instructed the IDF (Israel Defence Forces) … to continue high-intensity operations targeting regime assets and terror infrastructure in Tehran,” read Katz’ statement.

Needless to say, the ongoing fighting is not a good look for Trump, who has previously touted his negotiating skills and earlier claimed that he believed the ceasefire between the two countries could “go forever.”

“I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, “THE 12 DAY WAR,” he wrote on Truth Social. “I think the ceasefire is unlimited. It’s going to go forever.”

Reacting to the news that both countries had violated the agreement he helped to broker, Trump warned Israel not to drop further bombs on Iran.

In another Truth Social post, he wrote: “ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.”

The developments come only days after Trump sanctioned US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

In the immediate aftermath of the operation, which Trump himself labeled a “success”, Iran claimed it would retaliate. Trump warned them against such a course of action, warning that any act of retribution on Iran’s part would “be met with force far greater” than the weekend’s strikes.

“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror,” Trump said in his address after the strikes. “Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success.

“Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace – if they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.”
