Freddie Mercury’s “secret child” breaks silence 30 years after his deat

Everyone knows Freddie Mercury was an extraordinary talent with an extravagant lifestyle.

But few know that the legendary Queen frontman became a father just before his death in 1991.

This startling claim comes from an upcoming biography that promises to reveal a hidden chapter of his life.

Closely guarded secret
Freddie Mercury, the legendary Queen frontman known for his electrifying performances and larger-than-life persona, may have had a hidden chapter in his life that fans never knew about — a secret daughter.

According to an upcoming biography set to release in September 2025, Freddie became a father in the 1970s, a fact that has been closely guarded until now.

The new book, Love, Freddie: Freddie Mercury’s Secret Life and Love by Lesley-Ann Jones, reveals that Mercury fathered a daughter — referred to only as ‘B’ — in 1976 from an affair with the wife of a close friend.

Though the circumstances were unconventional, Freddie remained closely involved in her life until he passed away, according to a report from Daily Mail. “Freddie Mercury was and is my father,” B shares in the book’s opening chapter.

A close and loving relationship
“We had a very close and loving relationship from the moment I was born and throughout the final 15 years of his life. He adored me and was devoted to me. The circumstances of my birth may seem, by most people’s standards, unusual and even outrageous. That should come as no surprise. It never detracted from his commitment to love and look after me. He cherished me like a treasured possession.”

In November 1991, at the age of 45, Freddie Mercury died at his London home due to complications related to AIDS.

B, now 48 and living in Europe as a medical professional and mother herself, kept her identity secret for over three decades. Only those closest to Freddie — including his parents, sister, Queen bandmates, and ex-fiancée Mary Austin — knew of her existence and protected the secret out of loyalty to the rock icon.

“After more than three decades of lies, speculation and distortion, it is time to let Freddie speak,” B explains.

“Those who have been aware of my existence kept his greatest secret out of loyalty to Freddie. That I choose to reveal myself in my own midlife is my decision and mine alone. I have not, at any point, been coerced into doing this.”

Freddie even left her 17 of his personal journals, sharing his private thoughts and memories. “He entrusted his collection of private notebooks to me, his only child and his next of kin, the written record of his private thoughts, memories and feelings about everything he had experienced.”

Skepticism and proof
Author Lesley-Ann Jones admits she was initially skeptical but became convinced after three and a half years working with B and reviewing the evidence.

“My instinct was to doubt everything, but I am absolutely sure she is not a fantasist,” Jones states. “No one could have faked all this. Why would she have worked with me for three-and-a-half years, never demanding anything?”

This revelation may surprise fans who have long viewed Freddie Mercury through the lens of his flamboyant stage persona and rumored private life.

While many believed he was solely attracted to men.

”I thought he was gay,” wrote one person.

But Mercury’s relationships were more complex, including a deep connection with ex-fiancée Mary Austin, who inherited much of his estate.

B’s story adds a new, intimate layer to Freddie Mercury’s legacy — a tale of love, devotion, and family kept hidden from the public eye for decades.

Love, Freddie will be available September 5, 2025, shedding light on this untold chapter of a rock legend’s life.
